Reading between the lines Re: President Obama smackdown on McCain and Graham.

The President sure doesn't sound like someone who is going to be needing any Republican Senators to cross the aisle.

I would say that the script has been finalized and when the Senate Rules are put up for a majority vote next month.

The filibuster will be reduced significantly (as they have before). Guessing that they will allow a Senator to filibuster for a month before the question is called and a vote is taken.

Be prepared for a river of tears from the Republicans in the Senate.

And a whole lot of celebrating at my house.

1. I got the impression Obama has something in mind and Yurtle the Turtle knows what is in store.

2. RE: Filibuster rule reform. I would rather have the sonsofbitches TALK

until they drop - and ONLY those senators who cry "filibuster"! But given that there are 45 Republican senators (still keeping my fingers crossed for Carmona who can make it 44), they'll probably try to make ALL 45 senators talk until they drop, so the month-filibuster appears to be quicker and a better idea.

I hope this will be the case. Because of the Repubs, we can't get anything done in this country, and we can't go on this way! I just wish those Republican voters educated themselves and stop voting while hating on non-pink-skinned people (the major reason why the majority of Republican voters never vote Democratic).

3. As much as I like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington...

I don't think the talking part is the biggest problem. Granted, it's a huge fucking problem, and that little shit Reid should actually make those fuckers talk, but he could just do away with it altogether. Representational democracy + majority rule = problem solved.

8. My preference as well. I wish they'd get rid of the filibuster rule

just like the House did in 1842. Jeezus, but the Senate is slow with everything.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be great to actually SEE who the obstructionists are? Maybe Maine voters will kick Susan Collins to the curb and vote for a Democrat for once - or another Angus King-style Independent who'l caucus with the Democrats. Too many Republican senators hide in anonymity as they bring this government to a grinding halt. It's time they put faces on these charlatans.

4. The Underlying Theme Of This Poutrage...

I'm suspecting as you are...this is a prequel to the upcoming fight over filibuster rule changes. I'm suspecting there also will be reform on the infamous "secret hold" that tied up dozens of judicial nominations and created a backlog in courtrooms across the country.

This is a show of bravura by Gramps who, when the rules are changed, will lead the charge about how that is a conspiracy to cover up other conspiracies. He knows his fish...just throw them more tinfoil and they'll make a bigger hat. It sure keeps them from second-guessing a party that is totally detached from reality.

Cheers...

5. Yeah, McCain and Graham.....

..... , et al. are quaking in their proverbial boots. And they have good reason. All they can do is come up with these asinine excuses to get up there and make total fools out of themselves. They have treated PO like a dog for 4 years. I lived down in the deep south a few years during the time when Jesse Jackson was running in the primaries for POTUS. There wasn't a day that went by that someone wasn't vocal about the fact that he was running. At the grocery store, gas station, at the kid's soccer games, on the radio. I didn't understand it, as I knew he would probably not become the candidate for the Dems. I just could not understand all the noise and why no one knew what I knew. Weeeeelllllllll. I finally figured it out one day when I took the kids to the swimming pool. It was a white-only pool! That's when I figured it all out. The whites in the deep south were scared to death that a black man might become president. They knew how they had treated blacks in the past, and they just assumed that a black man would behave the way they had, that he would be vengeful towards them in some way. Anyway, I never took my kids back to that pool.

Yeah, the bigots in the Senate are getting restless, and they're starting to sound real ugly. But like I said above, they have reason. Second term Obama is going to be allot different than first term Obama. He more or less told them yesterday "between the lines" to BRING IT ON!
