1. Nice! I wonder if that takes into account

that their PAC money isn't deductible, but their contribution to healthcare would have been.

Not to mention the lively meme firing up this weekend about people taking their chances with eating Applebees/PapaJohns -- because of how many people are working at those establishments through their strep throat/flu bouts because they can't afford to see a doctor...

8. Although, to be fair, your average mom-and-pop don't provide it either

Because I live in the NE, we don't need to patronize chains, so we don't. But local small restaurants don't provide health care, either.

Again, another reason that employee-provided health care is a bad idea, and we need a comprehensive government system like Canada.

10. Mom and pop businesses can't afford to provide it

Republicans try to paint themselves as friends to small business owners, but think that passing healthcare costs onto them is preferable to paying for it out of the common treasury.

12. Agreed. The US Chamber of Commerce is no friend to small business

We as a party need find ways to clearly show small and medium businesses that the Republicans are NOT HELPING them, even though every bone in their little business-focused bodies is screaming that they are. We need to find ways to illustrate how Democrats DO support small business.

Too many people equate the US Chamber of Commerce with Bob's Friendly Hardware Shop on Main Street, when in reality, the US Chamber does nothing to help Bob (unless Bob owns stock in Home Depot).

Only country in the world that ties healthcare to employment. Work for IBM? No problem. Work for Joe's Bakery and Coffee Shop? Yer screwed (as is Joe).

31. Absolutely

The Perfect is the enemy of the Good

As a self-employed person, I can callously say that the employer-paid healthcare system need to fall apart before there will be change, and perhaps we're seeing the first steps this week.

2. Republicans are selfish

as exhibited in the above tweet.

They would rather throw their money away than helps another human being with it.

3. That's it exactly!

They want to make sure they don't have higher taxes or healthcare costs but they are so blind they will spend millions instead.

Idiots.

If only someone in the MSM would pick this up. Or maybe even some of our elected officials.

6. And what about John Schnatter (Papa John's founder)

he can afford to give away 2 million pizzas (say, $18 million revenue) but can't afford a little more for healthcare?

22. The pizzas were deductible as a promotional expense

So is healthcare, but deductible pizzas won't demonize the president the way deductible healthcare does.

7. And then there's this….

Side-work compensation
Since 2006, Applebee's and its servers have been engaged in a lawsuit over hourly wages. The servers, who received a federal minimum wage of $2.13 per hour as tipped employees, allege that the company requires them to spend 20% of their time doing non-serving labor for which they should be paid the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. The case has gone through several stages, including a judicially mandated binding arbitration session.

9. Healthcare yes..but what about the $300 million that went to PAC's

Just think what that would have done for our education system..Here in our local schools we are in desperate need of new computer labs but our state funding is so tight there is just no room..Just one tiny spec of that would have benefited our kids....
And the billionaires got less than 1/2% return on their investment in this election......shame

Took $25k in Bailout money and then gave $15k ($5k over the legal limit) to Scott Walker's recall. That is BULLSHIT and he needs to be called out for it.

24. Yes! That was a point I made earlier....

...these idiots donated so much to Romney, when they could have paid less in a tax increase, etc.
It's their fault, not the rest of the U.S.'s.
Suck it up, wimps!
And quit with the cry-baby secession bull shit, too. Move out of the country if you don't like it.
