CNN anchor Carol Costello tells Bryan Fischer she is proud to be a member of the Gay Gestapo

“@JoeMyGod: FOR THE WIN:
CNN anchor to Byran Fischer: I am PROUD to be a member of the "Gay Gestapo"!”

“@MariaNYC: Wow
@CarolCNN!! Your stand on the "gay gestapo" accusation has certainly made your stock go up in my list. I salute you. #p2 @CNN”

Whoa! Don't know if she came out or is expressing solidarity.
You go Carol!

2. wouldn't a gay gestapo be against gays?

I haven't heard this term before so I don't know it's roots. It just sounds like a gestapo would be out to stop the gay.

Not familiar with Carol Costello either so I can't decide what this means.

4. The phrase was coined by Bryan Fischer of the Christian conservative American Family Association....

....in an attempt to fire up those individuals who think like him.

Article:

Bryan Fischer Attacks CNN; Network Is 'Gay Gestapo'

Text of article:

Bryan Fischer of the Christian conservative American Family Association (AFA) has called CNN the “gay gestapo.”
During an appearance last week on the network, Fischer was abruptly cut off by CNN anchor Carol Costello who objected to his anti-gay rhetoric.

The segment was a discussion on the AFA's objection to the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) 11th annual Mix It Up at Lunch Day. The October 30th event encourages schoolchildren to eat lunch with someone they normally might not in an attempt to break up social cliques.

In an e-mail to members, the AFA called the project “a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools.”
“You know it's interesting to me that they are doing this on October 30, the day before Halloween,” Fischer said in the CNN segment. “And what this program is, it's like poison Halloween candy. Somebody takes a candy bar, injects it with cyanide. The label looks fine, it looks innocuous, it looks fine. It's not until you internalized it that you realize how toxic it is. And we want parents to be aware that any program that comes from the Southern Poverty Law Center is going to be toxic to their student's moral health.”
On his AFA-sponsored radio show, Focal Point, Fischer blasted CNN's actions.

Costello “showed you what the gay gestapo looks like in action,” Fischer told his audience. “Because she cut my water off just as soon as I started to talk about the health risks of homosexual behavior. But Carol Costello, the gay gestapo, the Nazis in the gay gestapo, they do not want to hear the truth about the homosexual behavior because what they're about is promoting this lifestyle – not promoting diversity, but promoting pervert-sity.” (The video is embedded on this page. 6. oh wow!

I have seen bits and pcs about this but did not know the whole story. Thanks for the info. I can't believe how the open hatefulness was allowed and encouraged since shrub. I mean it was always there but just not acceptable open language like it has once again become.

Thanks again for the education.

5. Let me get this straight: someone who is homophobic accuses

CNN anchors of being a 'Gay Gestapo' for trying to silence homophobic comments on the airwaves? I think it would be better to have said 'pro-gay Gestapo,' as the original phrasing conjures up visions of the Village People ca. 1980s.

I suppose if you had a 'Nazi Gestapo' (redundant) you could have a 'Gay Gestapo' but it sounds stilted and confusing as all get out.

7. The stupid...it hurts.

The Gestapo was Hitler's secret police. CNN is the media. WTF?
