Andrea Mitchell just gave a spiel about how NBC does not give permission
for future use of their footage for ads by either campaign.
I hope this is ignored. If an interview contains information important for the people to have to make informed decisions, then it shoudl be used. This is not like using clips of a "Real Housewives" show.
3. They could still use a transcript of statement (and still image as well?)
I can understand news organizations not wanting to appear as if they are a part of a campaign's advertising (as if they are endorsing one candidate over another). But what they say—in this case it was Mitchell's assertion that the Romney tax plan would cost $4.8B—is fair game to quote.
Well, maybe no images. But ha ha, it was already out there. Too late.
