…..America needs to understand that when we see a white police officer kneeling on a black body, squeezing the breath of life out of that body, we are witnessing an act of worship. It is an act of worship that honors the demons of racist hate and murder — a form of veneration deeply rooted in the American nightmare that is the underside of the American dream.

Beginning at the end of Reconstruction, hate and racist murder defined the rise of terrorist organizations that sought to enforce white supremacy and the rise of Jim Crow. Large crowds attended lynchings, watching as the breath of life was choked and burned out of black men and women. The perpetrators celebrated their deeds by posing for pictures, pictures that were later sold and turned into postcards to be shared with friends and family.

As Trump is threatening Twitter, Joe Biden delivered a powerful and heartfelt message as the US passed 100,000 coronavirus deaths.
Biden said:

There are moments in our history so grim, so heart-rending, that they’re forever fixed in each of our hearts as shared grief. Today is one of those moments. 100,000 lives have now been lost to this virus here in the United States alone. Each one leaving behind a family that will never again be whole.

In his first face-to-face interview since the pandemic turned the presidential campaign upside down, former Vice President Joe Biden took the gloves off and shredded Donald Trump for mocking the use of face coverings.

“He’s a fool, an absolute fool, to talk that way,” Biden said. “Every leading doc in the world is saying we should wear a mask when you’re in a crowd.”
“This macho stuff … it’s cost people’s lives,” the former VP added. “Presidents are supposed to lead, not engage in folly and be falsely masculine.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slammed Donald Trump’s latest effort to sow doubt in the mail-in voting process, saying Tuesday that she believes he’s become so unhinged that not even he knows what he’s talking about.

“I don’t know what he’s doing, and I don’t know if he knows what he’s doing,” Pelosi said of Trump’s claims that absentee voting is a rigged process. “But what he’s doing is not right.”

Eric Trump said on Fox News, “They think they are taking away Donald Trump’s greatest tool, which is being able to go into an arena and fill it with 50,000 people every single time. You watch, they’ll milk it every single day between now and Nov. 3. And guess what, after Nov. 3 coronavirus will magically all of a sudden go away and disappear and everybody will be able to reopen.”

Donald Trump is learning he can’t escape the ominous death toll resulting from decisions he made in handling Covid-19.

So this week brought on more attacks on the rule of law and a shocking level of callousness in Donald Trump.

There was that moment when he admitted that he doesn’t like testing because it gives him numbers he doesn’t like. Even with the low proportion of testing, the numbers were so devastating that we saw an even uglier version of Donald Trump lurking beneath the surface.
