20,000 West Coast port workers refuse to handle Russian cargo

As the Russia invasion of Ukraine shows no sign of letting up, longshore workers on Thursday said they would refuse to load or unload any Russian vessel or handle any incoming or outgoing Russian cargo.

The announcement by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union covers some 20,000 workers at all 29 U.S. West Coast ports.

“With this action in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, we send a strong message that we unequivocally condemn the Russian invasion,” said ILWU International President Willie Adams.

I'd hate to be negative, but putin is going to destroy and then march into Ukraine, and then begin spreading out further—using nuclear weapons as a threat.

60 Minutes had a segment on how easy it is to bring down our power grid.

I believe they said only 9 substations across the country would need to be knocked out, to bring down all the power across the U.S.

They could knock them out either digitally, or with planes, bombs, drones, etc.

Now that it appears Russian banks have tanked, putin may want his revenge (that was my line, not 60 Minutes).

These images of untrained, older, unfit Russian troops ..

being captured or surrendering (and saying they were told it was a peacekeeping mission), leads me to believe this was pootin’s first wave.

He sacrificed the lives of untrained men to get a feel for the situation and make Ukraine think that’s all he had. I find it hard to believe Russian troops are unfit men in their 50s.

I hope Ukraine is ready for a second attack from a more trained military.

Stray cat. Sad ending.

My wife was caring for a stray cat for about 1-1/2 years.
It showed up at our house. Started feeding it.
I told her I thought it was either overweight of pregnant. It looked young.

A couple weeks later...4 or 5 kittens were hiding here and there. She had been pregnant.

My wife managed to capture a couple of the kittens with the help of a rescue group (I don't know what happened to the others),
and they also got the mother had her spayed.

After her capture, the cat was returned to our neighborhood.

My wife gave her a bed outside our door. The cat slept in it.
Then she gave it a heated bed (for winter—there are heated bed devices for stray animals).

The cat was always out there. When she went for walks with our dog, the cat would follow way behind, hiding in bushes along the way, and meow.

The cat came back every day for breakfast and dinner. At breakfast, sometimes the cat would step inside the door and into our house (which I didn't like because we have a dog, and I feared mites, etc...but my wife snuck flea meds into her food).

That went on for a year and a half. There were a couple of times when the cat wouldn't show up for dinner. But she would be there later in the night, and my wife would feed her.

In the middle of February, the cat didn't show up for dinner. She'd been there for breakfast.
I told my wife, cats wander, maybe she got stuck in someone's garage again (that happened once before at the holidays).

But then someone said they saw a cat on the street. He took a picture. My wife saw the picture. It was our porch cat.

Apparently, someone had been feeding a different stray across the street, and our cat ventured out (which she had never done before), and was hit by a car.

Sorry for the long story with a sad ending. But we had a memorial for her where she died, and at our front door.

Animals are such an important part of our lives. Cherish those near to you.

Saw a FaceBook post of someone lying in the hospital with tubes in her throat (not COVID).

It made me think about life.

If there was a god, why would one person lie in a hospital bed (hospital bills piling up, depression setting in, muscles and ligaments declining) their throat cut for air, and stay there for years...and probably die very soon. If they are lucky, they have someone who loves them, and cares for them. Otherwise, they are frocked.

While at the same time, a healthy, billionaire—several times over—is setting up to attack a country so he can expand his own boundaries.

Has a former president stayed in the lime light as much as tfg has after LOSING an election?

That's concerning to me: the media still loves him; the gop still loves him; his maga brainwashed idiots still love him.
But he's a god damned criminal. We know it, and ALL the above know it (except for a percentage of the magas).

If ANYONE else did .5% of what tfg did, they'd be doing prison time immediately.

The gop's plan is to sour the economy (with a little help from their corporate friends), keep covid alive (with help from their boneheaded anti-vaxxers and now truckers), and keep trump in the media (no problem there). I don't know what's going on with putin, but I think that also plays into this.

It's all so the gop can take the house and senate in the fall.

I don't have any answers, because I'm not "the sharpest cookie in the pond," but the Dems need to start getting hold of this free fall.

Names of Canada Truck Convoy Donors Leaked After Reported Hack

(Reuters) -A website devoted to disseminating leaked data says it has been given reams of information about donors to the Canadian anti-vaccine mandate truckers after the fundraising platform popular with supporters of the movement allegedly suffered a hack.

Distributed Denial of Secrets announced on its website that it had 30 megabytes of donor information from Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo, including names, email addresses, ZIP codes and internet protocol addresses.

At the same time, GiveSendGo appeared to be offline.

Visitors to the website were met with a message that it was under maintenance and "we will be back very soon." Messages seeking comment from the site's operators were not immediately returned.
