Jesse Jackson Jr. Sentencing Request: Ex-Congressman Wants To Head To Jail Before Wife Sandi

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/18/jesse-jackson-jr-sentencing_n_3459816.html

This would have happened if they spread out their criminal activities.. I think his time for telling people what he wants has ended...

Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi appear to be preparing for the likely possibility that they will both be heading to prison when they are sentenced on July 3 for spending campaign cash on personal items.

In a Monday court filing, Jackson Jr.'s attorneys wrote that if both the ex-congressman and his wife are sent to prison, he would like to serve his sentence first because "Mrs. Jackson would be able to work and could stabilize the family’s finances," the Chicago Tribune reports.

The family is described as "in significant financial peril" because Jackson Jr. cannot currently earn income aside from receiving payments from Social Security and his federal pension, according to the Tribune.

The Jacksons both pleaded guilty in February to using $750,000 in campaign funds on lavish personal expenses. Jackson, 48, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison plus a fine of $250,000. His wife Sandi, 49, could go away for one to two years. They also must repay the approximately $750,000 they illegally spent.

Jared Marcum Charge: 14-Year-Old Who Wore NRA Shirt To School Faces Year In Jail

Jared Marcum, the 14-year-old who was arrested and suspended from school after refusing to take off a National Rifle Association shirt, is facing up to a year in jail.

In April, Marcum caused a furor at his West Virginia middle school when he showed up in a T-shirt sporting the NRA logo, a picture of a gun and the slogan "Protect your right." Despite being asked several times by school officials to remove the garment, Marcum kept it on, reportedly saying he was not violating the school’s dress code and was exercising his First Amendment rights.

Last week, Marcum appeared in court and was officially handed the charge of obstructing an officer, reports CBS affiliate WOWK-TV. According to the Logan County Police Department, Marcum would not stop talking during the incident at the school, which prevented the attending officer from doing his job. However, Marcum's attorney, Ben White, told WOWK that the officer's arrest report did not mention the boy's allegedly excessive talking.

Nevertheless, Marcum faces a $500 fine and up to a year in jail.

The Obama administration has concluded that Syrian President Bashar Assad's government used chemical weapons against the rebels seeking to overthrow him and, in a major policy shift, President Obama has decided to supply military support to the rebels, the White House announced Thursday.

"The president has made a decision about providing more support to the opposition that will involve providing direct support to the Supreme Military Council. That includes military support," Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communication Ben Rhodes told reporters.
