Greg Abbott Ducks Press While Adviser Charles Murray Doubles Down on Anti-Woman Rhetoric

Greg Abbott has been under fire for citing Charles Murray in his education plan. Murray is a controversial libertarian thinker who believes women's brains are smaller than men's and that "women have played a proportionally tiny part in the history of the arts and sciences."

Charles Murray came to speak at the University of Texas last night, where he was greeted by a protest by the University Democrats. During his speech he doubled down on the same racist, misogynistic rhetoric he has been criticized for in the last weeks.

Kinky Friedman: Where There's A Weed There's A Way

On Thursday morning Kinky Friedman, Democratic candidate for Agriculture Commissioner, sat down for an interview with the Texas Tribune's Evan Smith. Kinky is a well-known but polarizing figure finding himself in a run off with the unknown and plain named Jim Hogan who openly views himself as a protest vote after the party favorite failed to make it out of the first round. Kinky, who gained fame as a Texas outlaw, comedian, and entertainer, is finding that the most difficult part of landing his next big gig is having others take him seriously.
For all the right reasons Friedman wants to legalize pot and hemp which he has made the focus of his campaign but unfortunately doing so is not in the purview of the Texas Agricultural Commissioner. When pressed on this by Smith, he touted the economic and environmental benefits of farming hemp vs. Cotton, our state's current largest cash crop. He said he spoke to many small farmers who were enthusiastic about the potential for a crop that used 50% less water without any of the pesticides.

He then went on the offensive asking why this Smith seem to be dismissing his policy position as if the "whole world wasn't talking about this...Lots of candidates are talking about education, but I'm talking about how to fund It," he said.

Austin is Texas' Drunkest City

Austin You're Drunk, Go Home! (If You Can Catch A Ride)

Austin you're drunk, go home! Wait, what's that? You can't catch a cab because it's 2am and it's the middle of SXSW, Uber jacked up its prices, and pedicabs won't take you all the way to the only part of Austin you can afford to live in? Well, that my friends is a big drinking problem.

Steve Stockman threatens legal action over mugshot, Cornyn has new attack website

The Steve Stockman campaign has launched an all out blitz to vindicate his "clean record" and claimed that Michigan officials believe he is a "victim of illegal activity." On Monday, they released a statement condemning the anti-Stockman effort "Shady Stockman" by a super PAC called Texans for Conservative Majority as "a smear campaign made false claims using illegally-published records."

Ted Nugent: "I'm A Black Guitarist From Detroit," The Obama Administration Acts Like Nazis

Ted Nugent, the Motor City Madman and Texas transplant, just can't stay out of the headlines. Only a few days after his "apology" for using Nazi propaganda rhetoric to describe the President, calling him a "subhuman mongrel," the Nuge goes on Dennis Miller to explain how it is actually the Obama Administration that is destroying America by using Nazi techniques. Basically he turns the tables and says, 'who's the Nazi now?'

New Poll Shows John Cornyn Heading Into Runoff With Steve Stockman for U.S. Senate

A new poll suggests what many have known all along -- John Cornyn is at best lukewarm with Republican primary voters. A runoff is beginning to look more likely as the last 5 known polls taken on the race for the U.S. Senate nomination have Cornyn with less than 50% support.

Texas Values President: Rep. Mary Gonzalez Wants to End LGBT Discrimination "Because She is Gay"

Texas Values' President Jonathan Saenz is no stranger to levying attacks on openly gay politicians but he went too far when he suggested that state Representative Mary Gonzalez supports scrubbing antiquated laws from the books, requiring public sex education courses to falsely teach that homosexual behavior is "criminal activity," because she is not heterosexual.

Saenz, an avid Greg Abbott supporter, told the San Antonio Express News that, "It should be no surprise that she wants the state to ban students from learning that homosexual conduct is not safe for school-age children and it's sexual conduct that should be discouraged and not promoted in public school."
