Just finished my first precinct door to door canvassing for Wendy Davis

This round concentrated on Democrats to recruit volunteers for the larger block walks and phone banks that are coming soon. People were very encouraged to see that Wendy is this organized this early and taking the fight to the enemy and excited about being part of it.

Disclaimer - I gave up posting for Lent but couldn't wait to share some encouraging news.

Also Texas Dems: please share this on facebook. It even has some of my repub friend pissed at Abbott.

LGBT Rights are Universal Human Rights

They are not an afterthought. They are not a sidebar. They are not whatever. They are not "etc." It may be inconvenient and it may be uncomfortable. But get used to it.

Good Night,

Putin is a Right Wing Fascist Thug

Anybody who thinks this guy is some kind of liberal or in anyway of the Left is seriously delusional. He locks up his opposition, oppresses LGBT Russians, invades his neighbors, shuts down all the internet sites that disagree with him and is loved by Franklin Graham of all people.

If you support this guy you need to stop calling yourself a liberal, because you are not. And you are making an ass out of yourself for all eternity.

Been absent for a week due to Lent

See I missed the women studies porn star and much back and forth on Crimea. But the death of bartcop is the biggest news to me personally. The man's site kept me going in the dark days of the stolen 2000 election and the war of aggression against Iraq, when I saw my country morphing into something I didn't recognize. I will admit I stopped reading him as much when he was a Hillary man and I an Obama supporter. But Coppage was the shit. He was on the cutting edge of the early liberal blogger. He and Media Whores Online (the horse). I am deeply saddened by his passing and will send a donation to his family. I do not have the words to express how important his early work was to my mental health.

RIP - Bartcop.

Russian TV ratchets up rhetoric on Ukraine

"Mr Kiselev is well known for his anti-Western and homophobic outbursts. In December, a Ukrainian journalist and activist awarded him a mock Oscar for his "lies and nonsense" about the protests in Kiev that eventually led to the ousting of President Viktor Yanukovych....

"Framed against the background of massed Russian flags at a pro-Moscow demonstration in Crimea and the caption "We don't give up our own", Kiselev said that it was "impossible not to respond to this challenge"....

"And Russian TV has been running other stories that could be used to justify further military intervention in Ukraine, both to its own citizens and world opinion. The Vesti Nedeli special suggested that "unknown armed people" had crossed from Ukraine into Russia's Belgorod Region."

Why are the Russian troops in Crimea without ensignia or otherwise identifying markings?

What is the point of that. Everyone knows who they are. The Russians know everyone knows it. What is accomplished by that?
