damn, biden kicks ryan's ass and a whole bunch of new duers immediately decide they need to share

their concerns that obama will cut social security - even though romney has promised to destroy it - they are concerned that it is obama who will.

again, suddenly, right after ryan's public humiliation.

they are worried allright, but not about social security

GOP: Gays Out of the Party

Here is one of those odd regularities that crop up in American politics: Every election year since at least 1996, about a quarter of gay voters (more precisely, of voters who acknowledge being gay in exit polls) have pulled for the Republican presidential candidate, rain or shine.

Perhaps this is because gay voters have not had a choice between rain and shine. Their choice has been between rain and drizzle. The Republican candidate preferred not to talk about gay issues (ugh! nasty!) and could be counted on, if the issue came up, to take the wrong side. The Democratic candidate, on the other hand, preferred not to talk about gay issues (eek! dangerous!) and could be counted on, if the issue came up, to chicken out and act like a Republican
.....

President Obama started slow on gay rights. He opposed marriage equality, dragged his feet on the military-service ban, and let the Justice Department file a brief defending DOMA that could have been written by his predecessor. But then he made up for lost time. He went out on a limb jurisprudentially by abandoning his legal defense of DOMA. He and the Democratic Congress got the military ban repealed. He used executive authority to provide some benefits for same-sex partners of federal workers. Above all, he came out this year in support of gay marriage — and, in its platform, his party did the same.

.......

We do know this: If any Republican in the 2012 field had the potential to lead the party away from its growing isolation on gay equality, it was Mitt Romney. By choosing instead to pander to the anti-gay right, he made gay voters’ choice easier, and Democrats’ future brighter.

CNN Poll: Ohio Stays In Obama Column After Debate

President Obama retained the lead in a big prize on the electoral map, Ohio, according to a poll released Tuesday by CNN.

Obama leads Romney 51 percent to 47 percent in the Buckeye State, a smaller advantage than the president has had in the state during the last few weeks of polling. But with Romney surging nationally on a good performance in the first presidential debate, the CNN numbers contradict four other polls fielded after the event that showed the race within 1 point, and Romney leading three of them.

CNN pointed to the gender gap as the reason for Obama’s lead — the president is up 22 points with women, while Romney leads men by 14 points. Obama also leads 50 percent to Romney’s 46 percent among independent voters.

The results put the overall PollTracker Average of the race in Ohio at a 1.9 percent lead for the president.

Taliban attack wounds teen activist blogger

Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- Malala Yousufzai's courageous blogging against the Taliban set her apart from other 14-year-old Pakistani girls.

Growing up in a region once dominated by the Islamic extremists, she knew the fear associated with the word Taliban.

One of her fears came to pass Tuesday, when gunmen sought her out and opened fire on her school van, leaving her seriously wounded along with two other classmates

Last year, Malala told CNN she feared "being beheaded by the Taliban because of my passion for education. During their rule, the Taliban used to march into our houses to check whether we were studying or watching television."
She described how she used to hide her books under her bed, fearing a house search by the Taliban.

Malala's online writing against the Taliban led to her being awarded Pakistan's first National Peace Prize last November. Former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani directed Pakistan's Cabinet to award the prize each year to a child under 18 who contributes to peace and education.

perspective on debate "winners"

john kerry was widely viewed by the public and MSM as having kicked GWs ass in their first debate.

jimmy carter did the same to reagan.

and we all remember the kerry presidency and carter's second term, right?
