Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;Where there is hatred, let me sow love;Where there is injury, pardon;Where there is error, truth;Where there is doubt, faith;Where there is despair, hope;Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seekTo be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

This has always been one of my favorite reminders of what I as a Christian am called to do and be by Christ. Although it was almost certainly not written by its namesake, it is beautiful and powerful, Bishop Tutu called it an intregal part of his daily devotion .

Anti-Obama to stand his ground against the scary black man

Montana Expands Self-Defense Rights for Law-Abiding Citizens!

“This bill received overwhelming bipartisan support and NRA would like to thank Governor Schweitzer for signing the bill. Also to be commended are the efforts of lead sponsors, State Representative Krayton Kerns (R-58) and State Representative Deborah Kottel (D-20), for their continued support of the Second Amendment. The Montana Shooting Sports Association and Gary Marbut also played an instrumental role in this effort,” concluded Cox.

Anti Obama indeed

GOP Congressional Candidate Doesn't Have A Problem With Spousal Rape

In 2005, when Black was serving in the Virginia House of Delegates, he made a speech in which he said he "did not know how on earth you could validly get a conviction of a husband-wife rape, when they're living together, sleeping in the same bed, she's in a nightie, and so forth, there's no injury, there's no separation or anything."

Where the hell do they get these guys?

A prayer

For those who suffer for the sake of Conscience O God our Father, whose Son forgave his enemies while hewas suffering shame and death: Strengthen those who suffer for the sake of conscience; when they are accused, save them from speaking in hate; when they are rejected, save them from bitterness; when they are imprisoned, save them from despair; and to us your servants, give grace to respect their witness and to discern the truth, that our society may be cleansed and strengthened. This we ask for the sake of Jesus Christ, our merciful and righteous Judge. Amen.

same sex marriage question for lawyers

Or at least someone with more legal training than my one year of law school ten years ago. Are those arguing in favor of marriage equality (by challenging state bans on 14th amendment grounds) using Scalia's dissent in recent cases to make their case?

It would also give all federal workers a 1 percent raise

a family member has offered to pay for me to get a concealed carry license

I am no gun nut but used to hunt quail a lot when my dad was alive so I am not unfamiliar with firearms and safety. I am going to take him up on it though I will never actually walk around town with a gun. But the class should be fun. Should I wear my Obama 08 shirt or my Gay Right are Human Rights shirt for the first class? Justice for Trayvon maybe?

Obamacare enrollment exploded in December to 2.2 million

December enrollment surge for the Affordable Care Act that the Obama administration long predicted -- and desperately needed -- has come to fruition. As of Dec. 28, 2.2 million Americans have enrolled in private health coverage, according to new data released Monday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. More than 1.8 million of them signed up in December alone, a huge spike that has gotten the law closer to its original goals than most would have thought possible after HealthCare.gov's disastrous rollout in October. The administration's original projection was 3.3 million enrollments in private health insurance by the end of 2013, so Obamacare isn't quite back on track yet. But considering the combined total in October and November was less than the administration

So the goal was 3.3 by now but given the initial website fuck up this is awesome news!
