"Hip-hop is drifting toward 'oblivion'"

More: http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-echochambers-27131801

[IMG][/IMG]

"Hip-hop has taken over black music," writes Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, drummer for The Roots and band leader for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The music's success, Thompson argues, isn't necessarily a good thing.

"Maybe domination isn't quite a victory," he writes for Vulture. "Maybe everpresence isn't quite a virtue."

"Like most of you, Tom and Jerry Cartoons; along with Looney Tunes and many other old cartoons, were our first exposure to classical music. Ah, they just don't make them like they use to. Anyway, this area is where you can find a bit more detailed information about the music that was used in Tom and Jerry cartoons of the MGM era."

Baby Puss - 1943 - "Mamãe Eu Quero"
Solid Seranade - 1946 - "Is you is or Is you ain't(My Baby)"

My encounter with a libertarian on MediaMatters

Here are two of his/her comments I responded to (their username is "kingh" BTW):

NintendoWii10: "And you prove a point that Milt Shook makes in one of his podcasts: that despite the fact that Speaker Pelosi's House got 373 bills passed that were blocked by the Republican minority in the Senate, you complain about the Democrats.

Was Social Security, the New Deal, FDA, OSHA, Medicare whole when they were first passed? It took DECADES for those programs to become as robust as they are now, yet you want the instant gratification unicorn. I enjoy what FDR accomplished, but he did it because he had a supermajority, and within that supermajority were the Dixiecrats, who were WORSE than Landrieu and the other red state Democrats are now."

kingh: "All of which you mentioned above he and his crony Congress and Senate had NO authority to pass he was the second big gooberment JUNKIE. Wilson started us off with the Fed Reserve ( Creature from Jekyll Island), Federal income TAX (Oh it will only be a TAX on the wealthy 1%) and the first IRS. Interesting how the Social Darwinist of the day supported every aspect of this crap. You really think the D and R are on 2 different teams lol. Wow you people are so smoked."

My response to kingh: "Oh for fuck's sake--not this "both parties are the same" BS again. Republicans have been the ones doing shit like blocking minimum wage increases, trying to cut social security, oppose gay rights, oppose voting rights, trying to start new wars, opposing tax hikes on the rich, opposing sensible gun laws, and repealing health care reform. Meanwhile, Democrats have been doing the opposite of that. If anything, the two parties are about the furthest apart on the spectrum that they've ever been. They can hardly agree on anything anymore!

Anybody who still tries to say that they are similar is either a liar or living in a cave."

abraham silverstein: "Bush spent to much money"

kingh: "Agree and Obama is following his (Bush) lead that is the problem. They all preach change and it is the same crap. I am amazed that some on the far left and far right can not see the similarities as they take our freedom. This is crazy to think we all agree on so much but it is how do we get there. It is also sad that I hear no one crying foul on the GE donations to Obama and they skated on an obscene amount of TAXES. Oh sorry that's who were supposed to be paying our taxes and not individuals. The departmentalization was planned so that know one knows what is going on and that is why the waste is off the chart. I am a libertarian and believe in the individual responsibility."

Me:
""Agree and Obama is following his lead that is the problem."

Um...no:

"I am amazed that some on the far left and far right can not see the similarities as they take our freedom."

So explain what EXACTLY Obama has done to take away our freedom. For example, you still have your right to free speech. You still have your right to have guns. You still have the right to vote. You still have the right to criticize him on the Internet. Everything in your post is simply pure hyperbole."

"Why FOX News' Bill O'Reilly is whining about cable news/CNN/Malaysia Airlines"

More: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2014/03/19/why-fox-newss-bill-oreilly-is-whining-about-cable-newscnnmalaysia-airlines/

A cable-news fiend can encounter no scenario quite as juicy as Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly whining about other networks’ scheming for ratings.

Which is exactly what the King of Cable News was doing on his program last night, with the help of Fox News contributor (and Post columnist) Charles Krauthammer. In a four-and-a-half-minute segment, O’Reilly couldn’t bring himself to denounce by name the network whose ratings are skyrocketing on account of its extensive focus of the missing Malaysia Airlines — uh, CNN — but he did say that this over-coverage is “corrupting the news business.”

“It’s a grab — a ratings grab, that’s what it is,” O’Reilly told Krauthammer.

Dumb YouTube Comments

Here is a small sample:

"this is so messed up. no such things as ghosts. and they are not walking around seeing living people."

"There’s more proof that Creationism is real than there is for Evolution. The fact that the Christian Bible was written 3000 years ago and hasn’t gotten anything wrong yet is big proof. The so called “Scientists” that think there so smart are dumber than a rock for not noticing how much evidence is against there theory."

"Bread and circuses - if you watch the Super Bowl, then congratulate your masters on dumbing you down and making you compliant. Sports fans are sheep."
