About Me

Nixon was a fucking crook. As a teenager I marched on the UN in 1982 with a million other people demanding we get rid of the threat of nuclear weapons hanging over our heads. Since then I've worked to get Democrats elected like John Aristotle Phillips, known as the A-Bomb Kid when he ran for Congress against Stuart McKinney in CT in the 80's (we lost twice) through the Obama campaign in 2008 and 2012. I want to legalize cannabis, reform our prison for profit system, cut our military budget, get out of Afghanistan and push solar energy panels into every building in the USA.

Anyone want to talk a little MAD MEN as we approach the end?

The whole show, this season, how you think it's going to end and how you want it to end. Let dish on all of it.
First topic, before I get into Don Draper and his never ending journey for identity, is Peggy.
I love Peggy but I want Stan and Peggy to get together as more than work husband and wife.
but that last sho of her as she walked into McCann was awesome.
If I never saw her again in the series I'd be Okay.
My lesson from last week was that after spending all those years as Don's protege it only took an afternoon with Roger for Peggy to become the coolest person in NYC.

Random thoughts on the last few episodes.
* SC&P is the Best roller rink in New York.
* Harry Crane just sold the Cinzano Vermouth Presents: A Roller Skating & Organ Music Extravaganza starring Joe Namath.
* Why do I know that Jim Hobart is going to wind up one of Ronald Reagan's most trusted advisers?
* The way Jim Hobart says ‘Coca Cola’ makes it seem like there’s still cocaine in the stuff.
* “Every copywriter thinks they're Shakespeare.” Another quote for Sterling’s Gold.
* I’m waiting for the internet to “discover” the lost failed anime style TV pilot of SCOUT’S HONOR. Executive Produced by Daniel J. Siegel.
* Every novelist with a day job is still pissed at Ken Cosgrove for taking that job with Dow when he could be living the dream of every writer in the country on a farm in Maine.
* Was I the only person screaming at the TV for Stan and Peggy to kiss?
* Pete Campbell tells Trudy she’s “ageless.” Because bougie is forever.
* Now everyone’s going to want Chateau Margaux 1953 and they won’t have it in stock at the Von’s anymore.
* Office safety has improved over time at Sterling Cooper. We’ve gone from running over feet with a lawnmower to a stapled finger. Thumbs up OSHA!
* Adios Lou Avery. “Sayonara my friend. Enjoy the rest of your miserable life!” will be my new email signature.
* Next time anyone accuses me of something, I’m going to shout, “The King ordered it!”
I'm going to miss this show.
"But that’s life. One minute you’re on top of the world, the next minute some secretary’s running you over with a lawn mower." - Joan Harris

Indica or Sativa? Or Hybrids? (POLL)

Which type of cannabis do you prefer?
That dank indica like an OG?
That light and buzzy feeling you get from a sativa like a haze?
Or a hybrid bring something from both sides of the plant?

If you see something, shoot it...

...with the video camera on your phone.
Obviously now the citizens literally have to police the police in modern America. Walter Scott and his family are only getting justice because a citizen shot that video. If you see something going down with police using force, then you really should try to capture the event on video. Stay safe doing it. You don't have to reveal your identity with the video, no one knows who shot that video of Scott being murdered. It's the only weapon for truth almost everyone has in their pocket and hand at all times.

This is going to be a long election season if we have to listen to the shit coming out of Rand Paul

's mouth every fucking day into 2016.
This guy can't lose fast enough.

The very first screenwriting book (written in 1913) is free on Amazon this weekend.

Screenwriting books did not begin with Syd Field, in 1913 there were four screenwriting how to books published, with at least one more in the following year. There have been screenwriting books for as long as there have been films! So let's take a look at one of the most popular books from this era, "How To Write Photoplays" by the #2 screenwriter at the time, Anita Loos.

In addition to the full text of the original book and a complete screenplay by Loos, we'll look at Ms. Loos' career, the role of women in Hollywood at the time (over half of all copyrighted films in this period were written by women), and the reason why there were so many women screenwriters, producers, directors and studio executives. Hint: the 19th Amendment.

We will also look at how the lessons from this 1920 book apply to screenwriting today.

60,000 words total, including the original 40,000 word book *plus* 20,000 words which are brand new for this edition! Also includes vintage photos, a real screenplay page from 1920, and some wonderful historical photos of the women's movement (including the "Silent Sentinels" chained to the White House gate!). This book is where history and screenwriting intersect, and the first in a series of *two dozen* vintage screenwriting books with added screenwriting information and historical information.

Summing up the Mayor's press conference from Ferguson MO:

Same old same old.
Business as usual.
That is all.

Suspending Brian Williams doesn't fix NBC News REAL Problem....

Chuck Todd is still hosting Meet The Press.
This is the guy who says he has no duty to tell the truth or challenge liars on his show.
That's much worse than the fib Williams told but NBC is cool with Chuck Todd so NBC News has NO credibility.

It's not too late west coast. At 11:30 SNL is re-running it's very first episode with

host, George Carlin.
Set dvr now.

I went to a trade show for 3D printing today....

It was on the news last night and today was the last day.
What interesting technology, with a variety of applications in art and industry.
It was simply fascinating.
