I've met these guys on their home turf and it is as they say. Even the NASA engineer wants default.

That's in an OP here, he's educated and well-off and has enough of our tax money in his bank account to weather this, like others who follow this ideology.

These are not the ones you see protesting with hand written signs in the streets. They supply the muscle to intimidate voters and are rich enough to travel the country. To them, all the people being hurt should just FOAD.

It's shocking how many government workers have this attitude. Even though it's a small minority, they do not see themselves as public servants, but quite entitled. Many are civilian contractors and believe they are better than the people that pay them.

There were some awesome ones posted last year. I have friends who were quite concerned about their famiiies in Moscow. Russia will have plenty of snow, making it a logical venue for the winter games.

But nothing has changed, really about Russians and survelliance. IIRC, they bugged the American embassy and they were caught radiating them with microwave energy (just for fun?) in the past.

Although that part of the news story always seemed rather far fetched. But, Putin is KGB, for crying out loud. This is not out of character for them.

Maybe they think someone will do some mischief there, I hope not. It would be a very bad thing.

BTW, is it getting cold there? It's raining, cold and windy here tonight. Winter is coming on. Guess it's the same over there.

Thanks for kicking this one. I'm sad and upset, too. But now I'm crying, letting it out.

I am, in my own way, ruthlessly logical and given to analyzing relative strengths and history. And I feel wanting, and many other things these last few days as this has sunk in.

No wonder Klayman picked November 17th as the day of chaos in D.C. That's when the last SS checks will sent out with the default. And they will keep up the pain, hoping for several things.

One, Obama will compromise to save lives. Two, that if he does or does not, they will win, and he will be blamed. Three, that they will make such a killing off the disruption of the social fabric that the 2014 elections will be over before they begin, with mass disruption of people put out of their residences as the states will not be able to take care of them. Four, martial law.

Okay, I must stop because we need to be positive. But I'd rather talk about it here or in messages than in GD.

This is very serious to so many people I know on fixed incomes, living month to month. Some have posted their fears on a thread that is in the Greatest list right now.

Nope, not even close to what's happening, although I hope I'm wrong:

Any loss that can be attributed to the 'battle' in the 'shutdown' will forgotten if they win the 'war' with the debt ceiling. They and their supporters have planned for this for a long time, salivated over it, love it.

This was their intention all along, and the ACA and shutdown is just a skirmish on the road. And they hold all the cards.

Such notions as the invocation of the 14th, the minting of a trillion dollar coin and charging them with treason are mental masturbation. The world's belief in the full faith and credit clause of the US Treasury will not be restored by such means.

Great fortunes were made in the Great Depression. Much more will be made with this one and means will be just as brutal, if not more so.

This is what banana republicans wanted for years. I'd say we are pretty well screwed. But as I said above, I hope I am wrong, but that is my opinion. Here is their vision:

You can overthrow government and auction everything off to the Koch brothers by several ways.

First, by denying others a voice in voting by oppressive regulations and misinformation.

Second, by impoverishing people through defunding government's ability to stand between predatory capitalists and their prey.

Third. by non-stop propaganda against that government to make people give in to the fascism they promote by default, allowing the church and business interests to run wild in the public and private lives of people.

Fourth, is just shooting people or intimidation, doing that banana republican routine so obvious in the videos. These displays of armed force across the nation are designed to shut people up and let these who presume to act as our 'betters' or as they call themselves, 'patriots' who would run our lives into the ground.

I'm sick about this.

This must be read thoroughly and digested - it is the truth that many do not want to believe.

I know the demographic in the piece and they are pleased with federal shutdown and the debt chaos created by default. It is in their financial interest, literally.

Have we not heard what they have been saying for years, to buy land, guns and ammo, food, make connections with groups and for many of them, to get as super healthy and aggressive in all ways to fight off others?

They have invested their time, energy, money and social capital into this plan. The philosophy and religion they have adopted give them a sense of being right no matter who gets hurt.

I posted this link on a thread that shows another reason they hate Obamacare. It will lift the cap off FICA taxes, so that those making above $250K will have to pay many thousands a year in taxes. This is what Sanders and others wanted to preserve SS. Standing firm on the ACA is part of Obama keeping his promises.

But to that demographic in the article, SS is a system takes care of people that they regard as trash and they want their money for their own families. Saying they are ignorant in all ways is not correct.

They are not climate change deniers in the sense many think, at least not the better informed. Because they do believe in it, just not the solutions offered, and they want to survive.

The survivalists, preppers, cult of religion groups have prepared for what they see as inevitable ecological changes and are acting as individuals to survive, forming associations to make it in a post apocalyptic future they are busy ushering in themselves, actually. If many others die, all the more left for them.

This is part of the cult of Beck, Jones and so many others that has metastasized in our country. And these are their goals, to create Koch type fiefdoms as described in the Salon article.

So arm yourself with all the facts you can muster. Just sayin'
