I think so, too. My experience where I live now, although urban in a blue state, is very different

from my experience in both urban and rural settings in a red state. I've even seen better behavior with rural cops here.

Can't say it never happens in a blue state, because it does, but our local police work out of community stations and have definite laws and courts that favor the law over lawbreakers, including the police. It takes an active, informed citizenry - not just finger pointing or sensationalism that is used by Koch ops to get people to defund all public workers - to make the difference.

Walk away from your local government in any way, or your county or state, don't vote or vote to 'starve the beast' and the fascists will take over.

There is no such thing as a political vacuum that waits to be filled by good things happening. The anarchy some dream of producing revolution and freedom is a right wing construct, forces that want to steal the Commons.

They are always pushing horror stories out of all proportion, with no positive solution given. The groups that profit by this are rogue police groups or militias who seek to take over by guns as we see attempted in some states. They are mostly fascists who will victimize everyone they happen to come across. Whether they wear a badge of an official LEO or not, that's what apathy gives people.

In the NM case, every person along the way broke the law and acted like maniacs. It was not just the police, who were the least of the problem - the hospital was the worst of it. So they ought to be targeted the most.

JMHO.

I have a doctor who offers a free visit for 10 cans of food which he donates to our food network.

My apartment managers have clothing and food drives several times a year, for handicapped centers, and the food bank network.

In my area, the state and federal agencies supply 85% of the cost of our food bank network and the rest is donations and volunteers. People also bring in food and plants from their gardens.

The network also delivers food to many cities in our area, and the warehouse is on a large property owned by the state. Many people from churches volunteer their time at the food bank itself, which also gives out emergency food until a person is signed up for whatever their needs may be.

There are very few private meals offered anywhere as there are in rural areas and many folks from all over the world who have emigrated who get into services of all kinds. They give information for many kinds of help, ESL, health care, utility and rent assistance, various kinds of transporation, school, social services, classes, too many for me to list.

I am a client and although there is a lot I cannot eat, it ends 'food insecurity.' The atmosphere is very good and it is well run.

This is a very blue area with something for all of us from car charging spaces in parking lots at stores and buildings, bike paths, buses, senior and youth services, more parks of all kinds being funded all the time, new schools being built and others refurbished, fire and emergency services, police substations and community outreach.

We vote on everything detail, and not afraid of being taxed. I argued with GOPers in the past their belief renters do not pay property taxes so they should not be able to vote. Their ignorance is staggering, as property taxes are not waived in the cost of rent!

It is the most vibrant and diverse place I have ever lived. It is disability and handicapped oriented as a matter of our laws, the way streets, sidewalks, and all of that is set up.

We are union, we believe in public works, we are Democrats, and we love each other. This is what city living is meant to be.

UPDATED: Jason Carter to Run for Governor of Georgia

Remember this?

Obama meets 47% video guy

By REID J. EPSTEIN - 2/14/13

DECATUR, Ga. -- President Obama on Thursday met the man who made "47 percent" part of Mitt Romney's legacy.

Obama and opposition researcher James Carter, who released the infamous Romney fundraiser video, met backstage before Obama's education event here, Carter's cousin, Georgia state Sen. Jason Carter, told POLITICO.

Upon being introduced and told of James Carter's role in the 47 percent video, Obama jumped forward to embrace him.

"Thank you, thank you so much," Obama told James Carter, his cousin said...

Jason and James are President Carter's grandsons. I'd love to see Carter bring Georgia back to sanity. Maybe he'll go down the same road as Jimmy Carter?

Here's where I heard this good news, please go and rec and comment on babylonsister's thread:

He can plagiarize 'A Tale of Two Cities,' by Charles Dickens:

"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."

Oh, I forgot, he's an Ayn Rand groupie. He'd push grandma to take his place at the guillotine. As there is not one drop of love or self-sacrifice within him.
