I just stopped by the new Bernie Sanders A2/Ypsi campaign office

The official grand opening is tomorrow but I won't be able to make it. It was on my way home and I saw the lights on and decided to stop by. The office is spartan (not gaudy) but still inspiring with posters and such and looks like the perfect place for campaign work. The staffer there was welcoming even though I had just stopped by randomly.

Not sure why I'm posting this really, just kind of excited I guess. I may even end up going there some night to phone bank (I'm super shy but being in a supportive environment might help)

What is the proper way to bring a suspicious new user to MIRT's attention these days?

I thought it used to be to do a jury alert with the TOS checkbox checked. I didn't see a TOS checkbox this time, thought maybe the alert was still the right thing, but got excoriated by the jury for it (the post wasn't particularly hide-worthy -- I mentioned in comments that the alert was primarily for bringing user to MIRT's attention), so wondering now what I should have done instead.

Just watched the Biden interview

and dang it, I have to say it... he's just so likable.

Don't get me wrong, I disagree with him on a whole lot of stuff, and would really rather not see him as President, but he comes off as a genuine guy. Now maybe it's all an act, but if it is, it's a good one.

Bernie Sanders Proclamation: 1985

How do edits work these days?

So I know that some edits don't show up with the old-style "edit history". I also have seen the edit history still on some posts. I vaguely recall a buzz around the changes but I never quite figured out what they are. Is it just a certain time window where edits aren't marked? Is there an explanation somewhere? Thanks!

Bernie Sanders: Youth Unemployment and Dr. King’s Dream

By Senator Bernie Sanders

Many years ago I was honored to be among those who marched on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I was there for his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, and I heard him say that African-Americans live “on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity.”

Dr. King taught us that the struggle for justice is economic, as well as social and legal. As he said in Memphis, a few short weeks before his death:

Our struggle is for genuine equality, which means economic equality. For we know now that it isn’t enough to integrate lunch counters. What does it profit a man to be able to eat at an integrated lunch counter if he doesn’t have enough money to buy a hamburger?
...

Let me tell you why this is so important. The Economic Policy Institute studied the real unemployment figures for recent high school graduates aged 17–20, including people who have given up looking for work and those who are working part-time but seek full-time employment. They are devastating. More than one third of white and Hispanic youth (33.8 and 36.1 percent, respectively) are looking for work. Shockingly, so are more than half of African-Americans (51.3 percent).

I want to emphasize that:

When you look at the real job figures, more than 50 percent of young African-Americans are looking for work.

Half a Heart?

Well, I guess this isn't really truly a question... I was just amused by the fact that the automatic PM told me I had xx.00 hearts to give.

Hmm, actually just tried making a non-round amount gift and I got fractional hearts! Looking forward to finding out whether I can give it out! :-D

Tom Tommorrow: Sparky Dooms The Nation

Sound familiar?

was this a glitch?

A few days ago, I got a jury notification and served, got to the confirmation page, but never got a message with results. Unfortunately I can't find the post (not sure if hidden or poor search criteria), but I also haven't really kept up with changes to how juries work so I was wondering if this is normal now.

Am I allowed to try to sell something in a state group?

There are no hosts for my state (Michigan) to ask. I posted a thread in the marketplace but was hoping to sell to someone local. But I definitely don't want to do anything that's frowned upon...
