this can not be correct. CBS reports that on 1 Oct. 6 people were able

to sign up for ACA.

I understand they had/have problems with the site, which is an entirely different discussion.
but how much money was poured into this website, and 6 people
were able to sign up for insurance.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57610328/obamacare-early-enrollment-numbers-very-small-documents-show/

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - For 31 days now, the Obama administration has been telling us that Americans by the millions are visiting the new health insurance website, despite all its problems.
But no one in the administration has been willing to tell us how many policies have been purchased, and this may be the reason: CBS News has learned enrollments got off to an incredibly slow start.

Early enrollment figures are contained in notes from twice-a-day "war room" meetings convened within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services after the website failed on Oct. 1. They were turned over in response to a document request from the House Oversight Committee.
The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say "six enrollments have occurred so far."

They were with BlueCross BlueShield North Carolina and Kansas City, CareSource and Healthcare Service Corporation.
By Wednesday afternoon, enrollments were up to "approximately 100." By the end of Wednesday, the notes reflect "248 enrollments" nationwide.
The health care exchanges need to average 39,000 enrollees a day to meet the goal of seven million by March 1. The war room notes give a glimpse into some of the reasons customers had problems:

"Direct enrollment (signing up directly on an insurer's website) is not working for any issuers."
"Experian" credit reporting agency is "creating confusion with credit check information."
"Issuer phone numbers are not appearing correctly on the Pay Now page."

Some Halloween costumes tend to toe the line between "offensive" and "provocative," but these George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin costumes leave that line so far back in the rearview mirror it might as well have never existed.

snip

A group costume features a man dressed as Martin, wearing blackface and a blood-stained hoodie, and a man portraying Zimmerman, wearing a shirt that reads "Neighborhood Watch." In a photo uploaded to the Facebook account of Caitlin Cimeno, the woman in the picture, the man portraying Zimmerman has fashioned a gun out of his right hand and has pointed it at the man dressed as Martin.
Cimeno's Facebook account has since been deleted, but the photo has gone viral and elicited widespread condemnation. (Per Gawker, one of the men chose to set the photo as his Facebook profile picture before then swapping it out and setting his profile to "private.&quot

snip

According to the Smoking Gun, the men in the Martin and Zimmerman costumes are residents of Florida, where the Zimmerman case took place.
The Stir's Lisa Fogarty takes particular issue with the pair "choosing to make light of the murder of a 17-year-old child." She also adds that the men, aged 22 and 25, aren't naive children who made a regrettable choice: "[T]hese men are too old to not know or understand that it's also disrespectful to the family that is grieving for Trayvon."

police smell meth - raid house, kill 80 year old man find no meth.

www.policestateusa.com/2013/police-kill-80-year-old-man-in-his-bed-after-claiming-his-house-smelled-like-meth/

LOS ANGELES, CA — A raid team was sent to break into a home after allegedly smelling chemicals outside the building. Instead of the the meth lab they were hoping to find, deputies barged in on a sleeping 80-year-old man with poor vision. The retired engineer was shot to death while still in his bed, as the invaders searched the home hoping to enforce prohibition laws.

At around 7:30 a.m., prohibition-enforcement agents barged into the ranch through an unlocked front door. They quickly made their way to the master bedroom where Eugene Mallory, 80, resided. Hearing unwelcome strangers in his house, the octogenarian had allegedly picked up a pistol. Police saw the armed homeowner and shot him dead, fearing for their safety. Six rounds struck and killed him while still in bed.

Disappointed deputies found no meth on the property, but they did confiscate Mallory’s two pistols. In another part of the property — a trailer where his wife’s 22-year-old son lives — police confiscated a small amount of medical marijuana from the son’s bedroom. They touted this as a successful outcome to their aggressive raid. They had cleared the streets of some life-destroying plants.
“The truth of the matter is it was a narcotics search warrant. And what did they find on the premises? They found marijuana and they found a full grow operation that was producing the marijuana on site,” gloated sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.

This “grow operation” that the killers were touting could have been as simple as a pot and a watering can. Instead of admitting their mistake and begging the family’s forgiveness, the department redoubled its efforts to make criminals out of the family.
“There was a drug operation that was certainly going on in this house,” Whitmore declared.

I knew it .... oreos are as addictive as cocaine.

http://now.msn.com/oreos-are-as-addictive-as-cocaine-and-morphine-connecticut-college-study-says?ocid=ansnow11

we obviously must outlaw them, for the children ya know /s

The late Rick James coined an early-2000s catchphrase with "Cocaine's a hell of a drug." So are Oreos, apparently. According to a study from Connecticut College, everyone's favorite combination of cookies and creme filling is as addictive as cocaine. The researchers used rats to test their theory, giving hungry rodents Oreos on one side of a maze and rice cakes on the other — and (fun fact) the rats ate the creme first. Rats in a second experiment were given a shot of either cocaine or morphine on one side of the maze and a shot of saline on the other.
They were surprised to learn that the rats that had gorged themselves on Oreos had more neurons activated in the brain's "pleasure center" than rats that had been injected with actual narcotics. "Even though we associate significant health hazards in taking drugs like cocaine and morphine, high-fat, high-sugar foods may present even more of a danger because of their accessibility and affordability," researcher Jamie Honohan told NBC Connecticut. Il woman stripped naked by 3 male deputies and 1 female. on suspect DUI

http://www.policestateusa.com/2013/humilated-and-groped-female-dui-suspect-stripped-naked-by-four-deputies-in-jail-cell/

we really need to remove immunity on cops.
these folks need to go to jail themselves and get sued

Dana Holmes was driving home from a wedding in May when she was pulled over by Marseilles PD for speeding. After failing a breathalyzer test, Holmes was taken in for DUI and transported to a LaSalle County jail. It was there that her dignity and humanity was stripped from her by four deputies.

snip

It seemed like a routine booking until a female officer began a customary pat down. After searching her right foot, deputies violently forced Holmes to the floor and carried her by her limbs into an open cell. There, three men and the same woman ripped off all of her clothes, including her undergarments, and left her naked and exposed on the floor of the cell. Minutes later, a deputy opened the cell door and threw in some blankets and what is described as a “padded suit” by authorities. There she sat for over an hour, alone and afraid with only a blanket to hide behind.
“I was terrified…I felt helpless,” Holmes recalled to CNN. “I was scared and I lay there crying. I just prayed.”

snip

It didn’t stop there, either. Deputies entered again to rouse Holmes from her sleep, and was then paraded around the station naked to be photographed and fingerprinted. She can be seen in the video clutching at the blanket, desperately trying to retain her modesty in front of her abusers.
“I just felt helpless and degraded,” Holmes told the Chicago Tribune. ”I was actually afraid they might come in and try to rape me.”

snip

Authorities have had some trouble getting their stories straight after this staggering abuse. LaSalle County officers claimed that the Marseilles police officer that transported Holmes told them that she was “being mouthy and causing problems,” though the Marseilles DUI report noted nothing of the sort. The report stated that Holmes “seemed confused” about the arrest but described nothing of her temperament otherwise.

Several employees of disgraced financier Bernard Madoff are going on trial this week for their part in orchestrating one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in history, but many Americans still believe others in the financial industry are getting away with too much.
Just 14% of American Adults believe the federal government has been aggressive enough in pursuing possible criminal behavior on Wall Street, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Sixty-eight percent (68%) don’t think the federal government has been aggressive enough in this area. Eighteen percent (18%) are undecided

united healthcare fires thousands of Dr.'s

http://www.wtnh.com/news/health/thousands-of-doctors-fired-by-united-healthcare

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)-- In the midst of major changes in health care, UnitedHealthCare has sent thousands of pink slips to Connecticut doctors.
Termination letters went to physicians caring for Medicare patients. Those letters were sent out to doctors caring for 'Medicare Advantage' patients. It's a plan, marketed to Seniors to provide additional services through UnitedHealthCare.
A mix of primary care and specialty doctors are affected by it. And it comes at a questionable time.
Open enrollment for Medicare starts next Tuesday, and it's still not clear at this time as to which doctors are still in the United network.

snip

The Connecticut State Medical Society is fighting back. The biggest concern is patient access to healthcare.
"What the government is looking for is to manage better care by adding a patient centered medical home so that you have a doctor who is totally invested with taking care of every aspect of the patient and coordinating it. This is clearly not a patient centered decision," said Dr. Michael Saffir, President of CT State Medical Society.

UPDATE: In an email statement, UnitedHealthCare spokesman Ben Goldstein told News 8, "With the many changes happening in health care, we are building a network of health care providers that we can collaborate with more closely to have the most positive impact on the quality of care for our members. We are prepared to help our members transition to new providers. Members with questions are encouraged to call the customer service number on the back of their member ID card for more information."
Goldstein later wrote "we offer our members one of the most extensive networks of health care providers in Connecticut and remain committed to ensuring they have continued access to quality, affordable care."
