Mike Malloy - Christian Faith Healers Have Killed 12 Children Since 2011

Despite the deaths of least 12 children from “faith healing” Christian families in their state, lawmakers and public officials in Idaho have refused to challenge a state law providing a religious exemption from manslaughter and murder charges, Vocativ reported.

The childrens’ families belonged to a Pentecostal group known as the Followers of Christ, which punishes members who seek medical care by shunning them from their church. According to state law, parents can substitute prayer as a form of treatment. The religious exemption covers manslaughter, capital murder and negligent homicide charges, but cannot be cited if a parent uses any other form of treatment on top of praying for the child.

“If the parent combines prayer with orange juice or a cool bath to bring down a fever, the parent loses the exemption,” Rita Swan, co-founder of the advocacy group Children’s Healthcare Is a Legal Duty, said.

Mike Malloy - Racist Pigs Want To Celebrate Confederate Month In Mississippi

A Mississippi heritage group has launched a proposed ballot measure which would amend the state's constitution to recognize Christianity as the official religion of the state and English as the official language of the state.

The 12-part measure would also establish "Confederate Heritage Month," which would provide a curriculum base for school children to learn about "Mississippi's Confederate history, heritage, achievements, and prominent people," the initiative reads.

The initiative has been endorsed by former Miss America and Mississippian Susan Akin, Mississippi author Julie Hawkins and former state Rep. Mark DuVall, who tried and failed to pass legislation while he was in office in 2011 that would have allowed the restoration of Colonel Reb as Ole Miss' mascot.

Mike Malloy - United Morons Of America Angry At Obama Over Immigration Reform

Outrage may be the only thing that unites Republicans over President Barack Obama's immigration order.

While their blood is boiling over his decision to allow nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants to stay and work in the United States, they remain deeply divided over how to stop it.

In dozens of statements, speeches and interviews, Republicans have called Obama an "emperor," a "king", a "partisan bomb-thrower" and a violator of the U.S. Constitution.

But a heated argument is raging among Republicans in Congress over the best response, with a sizable and vocal group of conservatives pressing to use a must-pass government spending bill to withhold funding for implementation of Obama's order easing deportation rules for millions of undocumented residents.

Mike Malloy - Mary Landrieu: You Are History

Landrieu, the last Democrat standing in Louisiana's congressional delegation, has made approval of the Keystone pipeline a key part of her bid for a fourth term in the Senate -- even though the pipeline won't significantly impact Louisiana voters. The 1,700-mile underground oil pipeline would link the tar sands fields of northern Alberta, Canada, to oil refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast.

While the pipeline wouldn't run through Louisiana, it stands as a powerful symbol of voters' priorities in the increasingly-red state. Advancing the Keystone pipeline would give one more victory to the oil and gas industry, which is a significant part of Louisiana's economy. The vote should confirm for those with ties to the industry that Landrieu's seniority on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee means something, even as Democrats cede the majority to Republicans next year.

Of course, this week the pipeline was rejected in the Senate...for now.

Mike Malloy - Kansas Budget Shortfall May Be Twice As Bad

Earlier in the week new projections of Kansas' revenues said that there would have to be another round of deep budget cuts before the end of June in the ballpark of about $279 million — $239 million of which comes from Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback's (R) deep tax cuts. But the situation might be worse than that.

A new analysis by Josh Barro at The New York Times Upshot blog suggests that that number is actually very optimistic and that the state revenues from income taxes won't fall short by $239 million. Rather, the state will miss its target in tax revenues by $546 million.

That analysis by Barro comes a little more than a week after Brownback won re-election. At points throughout the 2014 midterms it appeared that the backlash to Brownback and his decision to pass drastic tax cuts (even by Republican standards in a red state like Kansas) could result in his undoing. But Brownback won and shortly afterwards new projections of Kansas's budget painted a rather grim portrait.

That estimate said that the state would have to use up its $380 million in reserves to fill its budget hole and then cut around $280 million more for fiscal year 2015 to balance the state budget.

Mike Malloy - 26 Crimes Commited By Israel After Ceasefire

On 26 August a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was agreed, bringing a fragile end to a war that killed 2150 Palestinians (mostly civilians) and 73 Israelis (mostly soldiers). Since then Hamas has not fired a single rocket, attacked an Israeli target, or done anything to break the terms of the ceasefire. Israel has done the following:

1. Annexed another 1500 acres of West Bank land
2. Seized $56 million of PA tax revenue
3. Not lifted the illegal blockade (as required by the ceasefire)
4. Broken the ceasefire by firing at fishermen on four separate occasions
5. Detained six fishermen
6. Killed a 22-year-old, Issa al Qatari, a week before his wedding
7. Killed 16-year-old Mohammed Sinokrot with a rubber bullet to the head
8. Tortured a prisoner to the point of hospitalisation.

Mike Malloy - Glenn Beck Sick With Mysterious Neurological Illness

Glenn Beck revealed on his network The Blaze on Monday that he has been battling a series of health problems that have left doctors baffled.

The conservative media personality said the problems started when he was on Fox News and became so severe that the crew worked out hand signals to indicate when to take the camera off of him.

"We didn't know at the time what was causing me to feel as though, out of nowhere, my hands or feet or arms and legs would feel like someone had just crushed them or set them on fire or pushed broken glass into my feet," Beck said. "I can't tell you how many nights my wife would sit in the light, looking at the bottom of my feet to make sure that there really wasn't any glass in it."

At times crying, Beck explained how he has visited various doctors who were unable to figure out what was wrong.

Mike Malloy - Our Childish Insistence On Calling Soldiers Heroes

Put a man in uniform, preferably a white man, give him a gun, and Americans will worship him. It is a particularly childish trait, of a childlike culture, that insists on anointing all active military members and police officers as “heroes.” The rhetorical sloppiness and intellectual shallowness of affixing such a reverent label to everyone in the military or law enforcement betrays a frightening cultural streak of nationalism, chauvinism, authoritarianism and totalitarianism, but it also makes honest and serious conversations necessary for the maintenance and enhancement of a fragile democracy nearly impossible.

Mike Malloy - Breitbart News Attacked The Wrong Loretta Lynch

The conservative news site Breitbart.com suffered a rather awkward pants-down moment when a media watchdog site pointed out Breitbart had confused its Loretta Lynches when publishing an attack on the woman President Obama has nominated to be the next attorney general. The site said the 55-year-old nominee served as one of President Bill Clinton’s defense attorneys during the Whitewater investigation of 1994.

She didn’t. That was a different Loretta Lynch.
