Loca...The dog that can't feckin run!

Today an 11 year old boy brought a gun to school in order to protect himself from shooters...

Is this what the NRA really wants? Everyone so terrified that even children are afraid to go anywhere without a gun? There you go Moms and Dads with guns. What a fine example for your kids.

Republican Gary Herbert of Utah is volunteering to take less Federal money!

What a guy!!! In fact he just reported that Republican governors want less money. As an unfortunate resident of a state with a Rebublican Governor, I am willing to take the hit so that all of these states can see what a mistake voting for these assholes was!

Republican Governors states please cut your federal handouts and let the Blue States enjoy a break from supporting you!

Boehner just whining about cutting the "Drivers" of our debt.

If you haven't heard, it's no longer "Entitlements" we need to cut, it's "The Drivers of our debt" They will never have the guts to say it's Medicare and Social Security and the Main Stream Media never ask them the question. What Entitlements???? What Drivers????

The Littlest Bo!

Susan Collins just came out with a giant load of bullshit after talking to Susan Rice.

She not only blamed Susan Rice for the attacks on Benghazi but also the 1998 attacks in Nairobi. Plus...they now love John Kerry!

McCain, Graham and their unnatural spawn Ayotte ran right out to spew...

bullshit to the press after meeting with Ambassador Rice. The Middle East is on the brink of all out war and these idiots aren't even paying attention.
Can't anyone stop them from attacking the President and just do their jobs for a change.

Chris Christie is still stonewalling Obama Care in NJ. This Friday is his deadline...

and I am beginning to believe the Federal Government would do a better job anyway.

I don't believe in ghosts and spirits don't frighten me but....

I know the feeling of walking through the ghost of a thriving town. All around the Bear Mountain area are towns like that built in the thirties, forties and fifties. They came into being because of the auto industry and other manufacturing that abandoned New York State in the seventies.
The first one I ever drove through was like a Twilight Zone episode. Small shops and a Rialto movie theater with a marquee, a small white church on the corner, a park with a band shell all empty and in perfect condition. It looked as if the population just vanished in the middle of the day. There were no cars or people but everything else was in place. Even the local dress shop still had mannequins with dresses in the window.
At first I thought it was some kind of movie set but my brother explained it was a casualty of the Ford plant closing. After that I started to find other towns in the same condition. Some were older and really charming. One adorable and empty town, that was originally supported by a glove factory, made me wish I could buy it and start my own Mayberry. But they all haunt your dreams. When you think that all those people lost everything. Their homes, friends, jobs and lives all gone. Nothing lives on except these eerie snapshots of their home towns. Like life size dioramas.

I visit my home town often. It's five minutes from mid town Manhattan and it will never be a ghost town unless NYC goes first. Things have changed but in some ways for the better. I can't imagine it dead and frozen.

Please, please, please do not breed or buy while shelter pets die.

I dropped off food and blankets at my county shelter this morning and it was overflowing with dogs and cats. It is a kill shelter and many beautiful animals won't be there when I stop next week.

My town will only license 3 dogs to a household or I would have filled my car with them. I called Yorkie rescue about two little frightened recent arrivals and they will be picked up tomorrow.

I encourage you to remember the pets in your local shelter. This time of year they need your old clean towels, blankets and sheets as well as treats. You can call ahead and see what they need the most. My shelter needed clean newspapers last year and one of my friends made arrangements to pick up the recycle from the nearby schools.

If you can make the walk through, check if you see any pure breeds or mixes that look like one breed or another. Take down their information and get in touch with their breed rescue. If they have a good organization they may have someone in the area that will pick up the dogs and get them to foster.

It's important that people who love animals get involved even in a small way.
