Getting Drunk Will be Super Easy with Water-Flavored “Air”

Do you like getting drunk but hate the taste of alcohol. Are you a vodka/soda guy (or gal) too impatient to mix a simple adult beverage? When you're drinking water, do you often wish you were drunk of your ass already, for crying out loud?

If so, it's possible that you're an alcoholic. But never mind that, for now. What you need to know is that a new beverage is about to come on the market, and it will make your life a helluva lot easier in certain respects. (And probably terrible in others?)

Air Premium Clear Malt Beverage is Fourloko's borrrrrring, carbonated cousin. A simple mixture, just water and alcohol (plus carbonation), Air is advertised to be an alcoholic beverage that tastes like water. 95 calories. A minimalist design. 4% ABV. And a patented process by which fermented malt is made colorless, odorless and without flavor. It's almost as though you're not really drinking at all. Or at least you can tell yourself that, while you drain can after bland can of the stuff. (There are berry and citrus-flavored options, too, if you feel like getting wild.)

The product is set to launch very soon in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle, and elsewhere across the country after that. If Fourloko, which was not shy about being an alcoholic beverage, got yanked off the market for its delicious, delirium-inducing drinkability. Air's future is perhaps even more uncertain. It'll certainly be fun to try, though. And then go out for a real drink, of course. [Foodbeast]

The length of time taken to notify some families is inexcusable IMHO:

I know they have to leave the bodies in order to process the crime scene.

There are hundreds of law enforcement people on site. Why can't a team be assigned to try to find out the identity of the victims? They would follow protocol and do as little to the crime scene as possible.

I believe a small trained group could do this and let families know what has happened. It wouldn't be a full report by any means, but it would answer the critical question the families have.

They may not be able to identify all, but any family that does't have to wait hours would be worth it.

Diagram of theater showing shooter's movements and other main points:

Dark, noisy, gas spreading, total chaos......
Scary as hell. No, it was hell!

The noise is a lot of what's disorienting especially at the start. Most people have never experienced that level of noise and it can completely disrupt any rational thought. In a dark theater, hearing is critical and the disruption of that sense adds to the panic.

I am not suggesting that is the only thing for anybody ready to jump in.

Thousands share Colorado Springs graphic artist’s tribute to theater shooting victims

A Colorado Springs graphic artist’s tribute to the victims of the Aurora movie theater shooting is spreading across the web.

Mark Rantal’s blue ribbon image interlaces elements of the Colorado state flag, a heart shape and an outline of Batman (see below). His cover photo includes the words “July 20, 2012 In Memoriam.” The image is reminiscent of a 19-year-old student’s tribute to Steve Jobs, which went viral.

The Denver Comic Con Facebook page grabbed Rantal’s photo and urged fans to “‘like this picture to show your support and love for our community.” More than 3,200 people have shared the post.

A gunman killed 12 and injured 59 others early this morning after opening fire at the Century 16 midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Just when you thought financial traders couldn't dig any lower into the sludge:

Question (non-sports) ..is it immoral/amoral or merely unseemly that traders shorted movie theater stocks this a.m.?

The Spanish athletes are juuuuuust a little upset about their Olympic uniforms:

They were designed by a Russian company called Bosco. They were given free to Spain's Olympic Committee.

"Tim" who co-signed Jerry Sandusky love letter to victim is current high school principal

<snip>
4:12 p.m. - A letter in Sandusky's handwriting: "I write because you mean so much to us. I write because you mean so much to all of us…I write because of the churning in my stomach when you don't care…. You like to express yourself in a straightforward manner….we seem to be a convenience….You don't understand or choose not to care about loyalty, motivation or caring….on the surface this may appear to work for you…we could be wrong, but don't believe that this work. Our experience shows otherwise…if you cannot care you will not be able to live up to the expectations. You so-called best friends will vanish…you might want to stop to think about true happiness…It's your life, you can continue as you have…we'd love to be a part of your life but that's your choice…we want to always be there for you." Signed: Tim and Jerry (Tim was the football coach at a high school and a friend of Jerry's.)

I wish Ann Romney had said 'You people' to

Tamron Hall instead of Robin Roberts. I love Robin, but she hates confrontation. Tamron, on the other hand, will get up in somebody's face if they say stupid things.

That remark was jarring. It was like hearing a very offkey note in an otherwise decent musical presentation. Ann Romney was still bobbing and weaving, but until then it was just the same ol' sme ol'. I would have said, 'Do I look like I'm auditioning for a remake of The Help?'

I would have paid cash money to see Tamron's reaction.
