Is it just me or do these two guys right now on MSNBC, doing the SNL Weekend Update

Convention Edition, kind of, oh...... suck?

Their lines are falling flat, the timing is off, and they don't seem to be really feeding off one another.

I found myself yawning several times, and then went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS 8/AP) — A proposal to raise California's minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2021 has qualified for the November ballot.

California's current minimum wage is among the highest in the nation at $10 an hour. The measure certified by the secretary of state Tuesday would raise it by $1 each of the next five years.

FiveThirtyEight: Manufacturing Jobs Are NEVER Coming Back.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/manufacturing-jobs-are-never-coming-back/

March 18, 2016

<snip>
A plea to presidential candidates: Stop talking about bringing manufacturing jobs back from China. In fact, talk a lot less about manufacturing, period.

....

Here’s the problem: Whether or not those manufacturing jobs could have been saved, they aren’t coming back, at least not most of them. How do we know? Because in recent years, factories have been coming back, but the jobs haven’t.

....

a small but growing group of companies are shifting production back to the U.S. But the factories they build here are heavily automated, employing a small fraction of the workers they would have a generation ago.
</snip>

So, yes, even if companies return manufacturing to the US, they will not employ anywhere near the amount of human workers that they once did.

Thus, let us say a company once employed 5,000 people in manufacturing, then moved to China in the late 90s or early 2000s, and then came back 15 or 20 years later to re-open a factory in the US again. It would not employ 5,000 people again. It would be more like 500 people, 10 percent of original, as the new factory would be mostly automated.

Then there are the well known tech companies like Amazon. Amazon.com builds and gets a dozen new gigantic warehouses in the US to help with increased online shopping and use of FBA (Fulfilled By Amazon). That doesn't mean it will suddenly increase the human labor. If one ever looked at how an Amazon warehouse operates, there are robots that go around and automatically pick orders from shelves, using defined travel lanes and scanned barcodes. So, instead of employing 10,000 new people to work at these 12 warehouses, they employ several hundred while the robots do most of the work.

Black man armed with metal pipe..... subdued by San Diego Police, NOT KILLED!

In what is become rarer today, a black male, unarmed or armed, is actually disarmed and subdued by the police and not shot!

-----------------------

http://www.cbs8.com/story/29857596/man-arrested-after-standoff-with-police-downtown

{ The article doesn't state he is black, but the accompanying video shows him}

LITTLE ITALY (CBS 8) - A possible transient carrying a metal rod was arrested in Little Italy Saturday.

San Diego police said the man was acting erratically when they approached him around 8:50 a.m. at the Farmer's Market in the 1600 block of State Street.

....

For about 45 minutes multiple San Diego Police officers had the man surrounded. The area in front of the Barbery barber shop was blocked off to patrons as many stood and watched.

"We attempted to establish communication with him, we asked him repeatedly to drop the weapon, we didn't want him to get hurt, we didn't want to get hurt," said Lt. Kevin Mayer.

Police employed a number of resources, including two dogs and shields.

Meanwhile, the man kept talking to himself until finally police used pepper spray and then took him down before placing handcuffs on him. He was put on a stretcher, where he kept moving his feet as he was placed inside an ambulance.

According to police, the man was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for possible mental health issues.

-----------------------------

You mean, it's actually possible to subdue a suspect, armed or unarmed, without having to shoot them?
The police can employ pepper spray on a suspect and not a hail of bullets?
Wow, who would have thought such a situation wouldn't ultimately require a visit from the county coroner?

California's SDPD and CVPD increase and enhance use of body cams.

http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Chula-Vista-Police-Defines-Its-Body-Camera-Policy--322245892.html?partner=nbcnews

http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/SDPD-Revises-Body-Camera-Policy-After-Fatal-Shooting-302999241.html

The Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) is expanding the number of body cameras available for the force and defining when and where officers use the devices.

The Chula Vista City Council approved funds to add a dozen new cameras to the CVPD’s current stock of 120.

.....

The San Diego Police Department underwent a change to its policy after an officer failed to activate his body camera before a deadly confrontation.

To develop its procedures, the CVPD worked with the ACLU, community groups and police unions. The department also looked at model policies at other agencies and took advice from police chiefs across the nation.

....

CVPD Capt. Lon Turner described when officers are required to switch on their cameras: “It's during anticipated enforcement. Any time an arrest is being made, officers responding to a call for help, a traffic stop, a field interview where somebody is acting suspiciously, that would be the appropriate time to turn on the body worn camera.”

.....

Turner said the cameras are off at other times to protect citizens' privacy and allow people to approach officers and share information without worrying about being recorded.

Videos are only kept for 90 days, unless there is a criminal investigation. Turner said the video taken from body worn cameras are not technically subject to disclosure under the California Public Records Acts, but there may be exceptions.

BLM movement makes it to semi-mainstream TV in HBO Show "Ballers"

August 16, 2015 episode (Season 1 Episode 9) of HBO's "Ballers"

Snapshot of the first segment after the opening credits:

Mitch McConnell's NEW plan: To make Obama only a two-term President.

It might work this time....

Obama Draws 18,000 in Wisconsin While 650 Show Up for Romney in California

"While President Obama was mobilizing a large and loud crowd of thousands of supporters in Wisconsin, Mitt Romney was fundraising off of a crowd of 650 in California.

Here is how Fox 11 described the Obama rally in Wisconsin last night, “Then the President continued his attack on the GOP ticket in front of an estimated 18,000 people at the Summerfest grounds along the lakeshore.”

While Obama was rocking the crowd in Wisconsin, Mitt Romney was off trying to raise money for his cash poor campaign. According to the AP, “Speaking to roughly 650 supporters gathered at Grand Del Mar, a luxury hotel north of San Diego:

..............

"Obama spent his day talking to tens of thousands of supporters, while Romney was complaining about not being able to visit his second home at a fundraiser."

http://www.politicususa.com/obama-draws-18000-wisconsin-650-show-romney-california.html

And thus, the disconnect again. Rmoney is actually complaining about not being able to visit his second home.

Gee, Mutt, you sure are lucky enough to be rich enough to own a second home. Most people can't even afford a first home.
