Shock lingers after Nazi unit leader found in US

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The revelation that a former commander of a Nazi SS-led military unit has lived quietly in Minneapolis for the past six decades came as a shock to those who know 94-year-old Michael Karkoc. World War II survivors in both the U.S. and Europe harshly condemned the news and prosecutors in Poland have said they'll investigate.

An Associated Press investigation found that Karkoc served as a top commander in the Ukrainian Self-Defense Legion during World War II. The unit is accused of wartime atrocities, including the burning of villages filled with women and children.

"I know him personally. We talk, laugh. He takes care of his yard and walks with his wife," his next-door neighbor, Gordon Gnasdoskey, said Friday.

"For me, this is a shock. To come to this country and take advantage of its freedoms all of these years, it blows my mind," said Gnasdoskey, the grandson of a Ukrainian immigrant himself.

I am OK with the house I am in ...

could wish that it was twice as much heated floor space, same number of rooms but, each room twice again as large, with a full basement and a full attic. Love wide open spaces. Large rooms. Nine foot ceilings instead of the eight foot I have now. Big front porch with a large screened in porch on the side. Would like a fireplace in the living/dining area and in the Master Suite. Also, need a carport or, a detached garage would be nice but, I can live with a carport. Also, am OK with this piece of property but, would like to purchase the surrounding 40 acres for a total of 50, nice round number, I think.

REO SPEEDWAGON - Roll With The Changes

As soon as you are able
Woman I am willing
To make the break that we
Are on the brink of
My cup is on the table
Our love is spilling
Waiting here for you to
Take and drink of

So if you're tired of the
Same old story
Oh turn some pages
I'll be here when you are ready
To roll with the changes yeah yeah

I knew it had to happen
Felt the tables turnin'
Got me through my darkest hour
I heard the thunder clappin'
Felt the desert burnin'
Until you poured on me
Like a sweet sunshower

So if you're tired of the
Same old story
Oh turn some pages
I'll be here when you are ready
To roll with the changes oh..... yeah

Oh oh if you're tired of the
Same old story
Oh turn some pages
I'll be here when you are ready
To roll with the changes baby
Roll with the changes

Oh you know you know you know you got to
(Keep on rolling) oh yeah
(Keep on rolling) oh Roll with the changes
(Keep on rolling) oh yeah
(Keep on rolling) oh Roll with the changes oh baby
(Keep on rolling) oh babe
(Keep on rolling) oh you got to roll with the changes

(Keep on rolling Keep on rolling ooh ooh)
(Keep on rolling Keep on rolling ooh ooh)
