Is anyone else done celebrating?

It is 2:30 ET here and our company just left to go and visit other relatives. Everyone even helped with clean-up, so I am off to a well-deserved nap! I feel like I have been going non-stop for weeks! Whew!

Hope you are all enjoying the day, and spending it with people or someone you love.

Michael Bolton -- yay or nay?

I never knew I hated him until he started singing in those annoying Honda commercials! I can't hit the mute button fast enough!

For someone who arrived late to the party, could someone please tell me which post started all the spin-offs?

These are so funny!

Chemotherapy for dogs.

Does anyone have experience with going this route and would you care to share your experience?

Our vet has referred us to a veterinary oncologist. Any experiences with specialists?

We are just trying to educate ourselves at this point. Thank you very much for your replies.

Will Kane run for governor? Fundraiser renews speculation

HARRISBURG — An upcoming fundraiser for Attorney General Kathleen Kane renews speculation about whether she intends to seek the Democratic nomination for governor next year.

Tickets for the Nov. 18 event at Stocks on 2nd, a restaurant a short walk from the state Capitol, range from $500 for an individual to $10,000 for a fundraising chair.

Kane did not respond to requests for comment.

Since taking office in January, Kane has downplayed suggestions that she will enter a crowded field from which the May Democratic primary winner will emerge to take on Republican Gov. Tom Corbett next November.

from femmocrat: I hope she isn't considering a run this time. I really want to see her go after Corbett (although I don't think she will) and keep fighting for us in Hbg.

Hostile work environment?

Has anyone here ever pursued this? My complaint is against one particular colleague who is very controlling about workspace to the point of affecting my work.

What is your opinion? Worth the effort or ignore it? This is a public school and unionized.

Former Congressman Critz to run for Lt. Governor

Critz to run for lieutenant governor

Former Congressman Mark Critz confirmed Wednesday he plans to run for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania.

“This will give me an opportunity to not only serve the new areas that are in the 12th district, but it gives me a chance to serve the people I lost in redistricting and all of Pennsylvania. I thought there's an opportunity there,” the Johnstown Democrat said.

“I have a very strong grassroots organization, and I think that not only could I be successful in the (2014) primary but then I could help the ticket in a race in the fall,” said Critz, who believes he provides geographical balance to the ticket because all six announced Democrat gubernatorial candidates are from eastern Pennsylvania.

Critz lost the 12th district seat to Republican Keith Rothfus during the 2012 general election.

About school districts---

I think you are in PA, right? You do not say if you are certified to teach, but if you are, you could get on the substitute list. The superintendent has nothing to do with hiring, for the most part. You have to go through the proper channels of the application process. You need to call the Superintendent's secretary to find out what positions are available and how to apply. The superintendent can recommend someone, but the School Board does the hiring.

It is probably too late for the beginning of the year, because you have to have several clearances and all your paperwork in order. It is an involved process! Just having a master's degree is not sufficient unless you have credentials.

I don't know what your brother is talking about, but he cannot get people hired. Even coaches have to go through the same process. In PA, the teachers' unions carefully monitor that the district is posting vacancies, etc. Some vacancies might not be advertised (not required) but they need to be posted in the buildings. (This is where the secretary comes in handy.) Teaching vacancies are also posted on a site online through the Dept. of Ed, I think. Sorry, I don't know the address.

Don't be so hard on your brother, even if he is full of sh*t. It will hurt your mother to see you two alienated from each other. Good luck, mrmpa.

Love at first sight.

I asked my BF, "Who is that cute guy?" and it turned out that she and he had recently dated! LOL

We just celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary!
