GRRRR!!! fruit flies have made a home around my kitchen sink.

I have cleaned the area obsessively and yet the annoying little bastards keep on reproducing as fast as I kill them. they disappeared over the winter and I thought they were gone for good, but now with the warm spring they have returned! UGHH!!!

Any suggestions?

Anyone else play emulated console video games on their computer?

I love playing old games I haven't seen in YEARS. I'm currently on a Final Fantasy 6 kick, right now!

There is a very good Japanese-to-English translated ROM of Final Fantasy 5 out there, where I can't remember. The game was never released in the US, but it's awesome.

Tell me why I should respect people's "deeply held" religious beliefs?

What makes religious beliefs so special and immune from criticism compared to any other belief? Why can Truthers and Birthers, and UFOologists be made fun of but not people who belief in a sky daddy who answers their prayers?

Any other Carl Jung fans here???

I've been reading his stuff and it has been very enlightening for this "introverted sensation" type. The stuff on mandalas blew my mind, explaining the circular images that occasionally pop into my head when daydreaming

My kitty had to be put down, today.

Last weekend my mom called me telling me that the cat was constantly puking, we took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with cancer.

She was 13 years old. RIP, Princess.

French is becoming a polysythetic language?!?!?!?

This article just blew my mind:

http://matnat.ronet.ru/articles/Arkadiev_TypSchool_Polysynthesis_Hand.pdf

It argues that spoken French has developed some characteristics of polysythetic languages like those found among Amerindian and Bantu languages such as noun incorporation into the verb and polypersonal agreement (marking the object as well as the subject on the verb).

The creepy thing is that I am having the English descendant I'm working on for my sci-fi universe evolve in the same way, and that was even long before I read this today!

Trayvon's murder was a modern-day lynching.

Just like in the lynchings of the Jim Crow days, an innocent black guy would be falsely accused of a violent act and them murdered to terrorize blacks to "keep them in their place".

This video made me cry!

Treating a sapient AI who is in all respects a PERSON as a commodity to be sold!

"I thought I was a person"
