I'm a little puzzled here. Remember the Outrageous! Outrageous!

IRS pretend scandal a month or two ago? The one where everyone said "Outrageous!" a lot because some Republican at the IRS thought that organizations with the phrase "Tea Party" in their names might have a political purpose? Where Holder started a criminal investigation? The one where the only harm done was that a few tea party groups were delayed in getting tax-exempt status?

In that pretend scandal, the head of the IRS - who was not head of the IRS when the Outrageous! behavior occurred, and actually had zero to do with said outrageous behavior - was fired within days.

Let's now turn to the Snowden situation. Snowden, a 29-year-old relatively new hire, was given access to, and able to take home, massive volumes of information that (we are told) is so supermegasecret that we're now totally fucked as a nation, our deepest secrets revealed for all of our enemies to grok.

So, as Sen. Leahy asked today, why hasn't anyone been fired for letting this happen? Where's the scalp of the head of the NSA, who actually was the head of the NSA when this happened? Why is the director of national security still in place after giving Congress admittedly untruthful answers?

WTF is going on here? Could the incompetence and prevarication be any worse?

I love the new meme: FDR Democrats are hurting the 99% by focusing on Snowden

It's a hoot! From the Third-Way prevaricators at politicsusa:

As Republicans Make Millions Suffer, the Left’s Ideologues Obsess Over Edward Snowden

This claim is being made by Third-Way Democrats, the very people who have gleefully disembowled the 99% for a few shekels over the past 20 years, and who have relentlessly claimed that the NSA Spy on Everyone program is actually about Snowden not NSA overreach.

Of course, FDR Democrats are infinitely more concerned about the Constitution than about Snowden, and believe in helping the 99% by helping the 99%, not by cutting Social Security or sending jobs abroad through "free" trade agreements.

Did something change on jury selection?

I went for months without being asked to serve on a jury even once. Suddenly, a few days ago it went back to once per day or so.

I'm pleased that Snowden's not on the WH secret extrajudicial kill list

That's what Holder seemed to indicate when he told Russia that Snowden woudn't be executed.

But since the list's secrecy is vital to national security, is that just the "least untruthful" thing that Holder could say?

These are very confusing times.

Is it just me?

Or does our country's situation just get more appalling each day?

We're being held hostage by crazy people, and the negotiators are only negotiating for a share of the ransom, not for us hostages.

I can't see how this ends nicely.

Is it possible to be pro middle class and negotiate the PTT simultaneously?

What do you think?

Dave Edmunds honors Larry "Crash" Summers

Celebrating yet another crackup-to-be for Crash as Fed Chairman

You'd think by now my half a brain would get the messagea,
Crawling from the wreckage!

Should a Democrat always disagree with everything a Republican says?

I thought the Republicans were naughty for purposely disagreeing with everything Democrats want.

But now I'm told that because RonRand Paul and I happen to overlap on a few ideas, like the Fourth Amendment being actual law, I'm not being a good Democrat. Even if if I have zero use for RonRand in any capacity.

So... Should I make sure that I always disagree with RonRand Paul? What if RonRand Paul disagree with other Republicans? Should I just refuse to have an opinion in that case?

Help me out here!

Let's ban the word "gun" from DU

Instead, let's mandate the use of "shit multipliers" because that's what many, many guns end up being.

Black kid walking through your gated community? Add a nitwit with a gun and things get horrific.

Drunk and pissed off at someone? Add a gun and it gets many times worse.

Sometimes forget to put things back in their place? Leave a gun around with kids and it gets many times worse.

Feeling depressed and at your wits' end? Add a gun and it gets many times worse.

That's why fewer guns = fewer gun deaths. Henceforth, let's refer to to guns in a way that reminds us of their true essence: shit multipliers.

Jeezes, we need some actual Democrats in office

Reading this morning's news on DU, it's a fucking catastrophe out there. Kids getting killed for Walking While Black, money scammed from kids trying to get an education, the 99% still being economically sodomized, but ginormous torrents of cash are being showered on the 1%.

Every American is being spied on, and the most decent living American President says that Democracy is kaput here.

This is vexing.

We need some help from our elected officials, if they can pull off of Wall Street's teat for a few moments.
