About Me

I am a fulltime chaperone to an aging pit-bull. She loves pigs-ears purchased from Stewerts Meat Market, long walks anywhere, feeding time and tummy rubs. We both enjoy disc golf, (golf with baskets instead of holes and fancy frisbees instead of golf balls), but for entirely different reasons. Fortunately for all she never acquired a taste for frisbees but she is a sucker for thrown rope-toys and balls. Her goal in life is to see an end to the nuisance that causes some toys to squeak when pressed by her chaperone. After the squeak has been eliminated, the toy is safe to be played with by anyone else because regardless of price it holds no further interest for her. Lastly: that is my real last name which means I can get away with calling myself a card carrying chick!

OMG, KING 5 NEWS (Seattle) is reporting on the Sanders events coming to our area!

Local NBC affiliate KING 5 NEWS out of Seattle is NOT choosing the road of ignoring the Sanders Campaign, instead our KING 5 NEWS is all over it!

Bernie Sanders brings campaign to Seattle, Portland

Associated Press and KING 5 News 2:09 p.m. PDT August 6, 2015

SEATTLE -- Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is taking his presidential bid to the West Coast, with rallies planned in the coming days in Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles.

During a conference call Thursday ahead of his Saturday events in Seattle, Sanders said that his focus on issues like the middle class, climate change, criminal justice reform is resonating with voters, and sets him apart from Democratic primary front-runner Hillary Clinton.

Sanders will be at Westlake Park in Seattle Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to speak at a social security and Medicare celebration. That evening, Sanders will appear at a campaign rally to discuss income inequality, climate change and college affordability. The rally will start at 6 p.m. at the University of Washington's HecEdmundson Pavilion.

He's also scheduled to hold a rally at Portland's Memorial Coliseum Sunday night, before heading to an event in Los Angeles Monday.

Declared 2016 candidate: Bernie Sanders

According to his campaign, 120 locations in Washington state took part in a Sanders meet-up on July 29, third in the nation for participation behind California and New York.

He already boasts more than 70,000 committed volunteers nationwide, compared to Democratic rival Hilary Clinton's more than 12,000 commitments, according to their campaigns.

Sanders lets volunteers decide how to support his presidential campaign

Sanders was elected as an independent to the U.S. House in 1990. He then ran and won a spot in the Senate in 2006, and is currently serving his second term.

Bernie Sanders will be in Seattle Saturday Aug. 8

Requesting information/interpretation re: Marijuana home seizure policy Wa. State

I live in Washington State. We are blessed in that pot laws are becoming lenient. Things are changing here and I wish to know how those changes will affect me. I am a grower, been growing under a three light system for decades. About 4 years ago I moved into my sister's place out in rural Pierce County. My sister lives in Wisconsin, she does not know or care what I do with the place as long as it is kept up, the neighbors don't complain about me and the bills get paid. For 4 years she has been happy with me about this set up.

New Washington State Laws are either in affect or going into affect that states we growers are not to have more than 15 plants in our grow ops. I've a brother who lives nearby who DOES know what I am doing and he is doing everything in his power to scare the hell out of me about my growing pot. He claims that under these new laws Washington State will seize my sister's property and take away my Veterans disability pension My question is: What are the odds of the State the County or even the Federal Government coming in, discovering my little grow op and screwing over my sister, (who knows nothing about pot or my growing it), or me in light of these new laws?

Could President Sanders bring back JFK's Physical Fitness Program for kids?

I remember as a child participating in this program, it was tougher than hell for me but I gave it my best anyway. With childhood obesity as a serious societal problem wouldn't it make sense to see something like this brought back into use?

Secondly, if this program actually does make current sense, could it not be a nice 'plank' to add to Senator Sanders' speeches in his bid for the nomination? I suspect the good Senator remembers this program as well as many of you here, I have to imagine that he is just as concerned about child obesity as everyone else is. I should add that discussions about getting such a program underway would quickly lead our nation into further discussions about what we are eating too.

Overall I think it is a non-partisan win for whomever starts talking about initiating such a program but maybe I've missed something, I'd like to hear what my fellow Sanders supporters think

You knew he'd eventually throw his hat in too:

As an artist, how do you know when you have finally 'arrived'?

When you get a gig with The Muppets of course!

Best DU Poll Ever! Reposting to the Bernie Sanders Group

As you all likely know, fellow DUer Logical posted this little DU Poll:

Every now and then I keep checking back and to my astonishment it is still active and the numbers are growing. Ok so maybe I am guilty of telling folks about it too. I've even tried to get 'moonlighting' DU members to come take a look at it, to maybe add their names....so far Brad Friedman, (Bradblog) and Thom Hartmann, (The Thom Hartmann Show) haven't weighed in but I keep hoping.

I suspect there are DUers who would prefer that Logical's Poll fade off into the sunset and be forgotten. Well fading off to the sunrise of the Sanders group should likely prevent that from happening. It is my opinion that this poll can prove quite worthy of citation when debating our position here at DU. I suggest not being mean in regards to our fellow DUers 'across the aisle', as you well know Senator Sanders sets for us the example to follow. I further suggest it's use as a tool, as an inspirational reminder to us all that we are not alone here in 'our' forum....if you click on the tab that says 'show usernames' in that poll you will better appreciate just whose forum this is!

Jackie Evancho and Andrea Bocelli-Time To Say Goodbye

filmed off the screen live in Bangkok but sound quality is ok enough. Edited to add: I found this in my Gmail inbox because I subscribe to Jackie Evancho's fanpage, sadly, I was not the fortunate person who filmed this.

Seeking a discussion/information on drivers licenses.

I have a brother, Jeff, who is diagnosed schizophrenic, he calls it telepathic-that the doctors know NOTHING about his actual issues. Jeff is cared for/looked after by our other brother Ron, who handles all of Jeff's finances and pays Jeff's bills. I assist Ron with Jeff where I can. It is important to note that Jeff refuses to take any meds for schizophrenia because as I mentioned, he doesn't believe he has this condition.

Jeff has a drivers license, he got it years ago when the schizophrenia wasn't so bad and it gets updated periodically by Jeff and Ron. Ron helps Jeff with that update because Jeff throws a fit if he can't have a drivers license. So far, Ron won't let Jeff know that there is ample money in Jeff's bank account to buy a car. Jeff constantly comes up with grand money making schemes in order to get a car but Ron and I use subterfuge best we can to keep that from ever happening.

Local law enforcement already know who Jeff is, (thanks to his intolerant neighbors). The cops don't pay Jeff visits when there are complaints because they consider Jeff mentally handicapped but harmless. When there are complaints, the cops just call up Ron and ask him to go deal with Jeff.

If you knew Jeff, it would be obvious to you why he should not be licensed to operate a motor vehicle. He has only partial grasp on reality. Further and truly boggling is the fact that should Jeff choose to get one, he could get a firearm too! No, I do not want this to be a gungeon worthy discussion, I am instead interested in hearing about our system, a system that would allow the handicapped out on our roads and highways. Are there ways to keep the 'Jeffs' of our society from getting a drivers license? In Washington State auto insurance is a requirement, could a case be made that Jeff is uninsurable? Is this something that the citizenry of our state, maybe even our nation need to be seeking legislation about?
