Dear Todd: An open letter from a Republican woman.

Dear Todd

I am a woman, a survivor of rape, and a registered Republican. You have issued an apology for the uneducated “off the cuff” remark you made where you stated “from what I understand from doctors, pregnancy is really rare. If it is a legitimate rape, the female body has a ways to try shut that whole thing down.” Todd, I do not accept your apology!

The problem that goes to the core of this issue is that no matter what your apology says, you and your friends have left most of your more moderate members behind and traded us in for a very extreme view.

Number one, women have the right to determine what happens to their body and to not be raped, assaulted, or molested whether that is by a rapist or an elected official who thinks they have the right to dictate what she should do. You and your friends do not want government intrusion into your lives ONLY when it suits your beliefs – period!

You and your like-minded friends, who do not agree with the Affordable Care Act yell from the roof tops that personal religious freedoms are being infringed upon because it requires women to have access to birth control. What I find so interesting is those same people have no problem creating legislation that does just that to the women of this country. For example, have you forgotten Todd that little piece of legislation that you and GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan co-sponsored a bill called “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” a bill which, among other things, introduced the country to this bizarre term “forcible rape,” as if there is some other form of rape?

My neighborhood is the first test market for Google Fiber which starts next month.

What pros and cons would there be for signing up for this new service? It does seem pricey except for the free plan which may be slow?

Did I wait too long to book a flight to London for October 19th?

Cost now is close to $1000 RT. What about waiting for a last minute deal? I haven't any option for time and place which sucks because flying to Dublin is so much cheaper $750 RT.

Joe Walsh is looking for “Godly” Senators to deal with Muslims who are “trying to kill Americans

every week”

“I’m looking for some godly men and women in the Senate, in the Congress, who will stand in the face of the danger of Islam in America without political correctness,” the man said. “Islam is not the peaceful, loving religion we hear about.”

The line was met with applause.

Walsh responded by asserting that radical Muslims are “trying to kill Americans every week,” and that “it’s not a matter of ‘if’ – it’s a matter of ‘when’” a 9/11-like attack will happen again.

Walsh went on to claim that radical Islam had found its way into the Chicago suburbs, including some that he represents.

“It’s here. It’s in Elk Grove. It’s in Addison. It’s in Elgin. It’s here,” he said.

Dr Lynne Fenton was counselling James Holmes before the horrific murders took place
More details have emerged about the psychiatrist who was said to be treating Batman killer James Holmes before he allegedly opened fire on a Colorado movie theater killing 12 people and injuring 58.

Dr Lynne Fenton - who is said to specialize in schizophrenia and 'threat assessment' - may become the subject of a number of lawsuits if it emerges she could have prevented the massacre.

Her job as part of the 'threat assessment' team is to alert authorities if any student is considered dangerous or violent.
Holmes sent a notebook to Dr Fenton before the shooting which was allegedly filled with details and drawings of how he was planning to 'kill people'.

Romney least liked candidate in recent history? Polling numbers say no

Mitt Romney has far less of a gap to overcome in the important measure of favorability than several candidates who went on to win. Photograph: Justin Sullivan/Getty Image

You might think by some of the headlines that Mitt Romney is viewed less favorably by Americans than Kristen Stewart. Indeed, much has been made about how Romney is the least likeable Republican nominee in the "modern era". But just how unpopular is Mitt Romney? The answer – it turns out – is actually far more murky than you might think.

Mitt Romney has a net favorable (favorable - unfavorable) rating anywhere from -9 to +12 depending on which July poll you examine.

Boy Scouts decides to keep ban on gay boys

Source: Kansas City Star

After what it called a two-year-long examination of its policies, the Boy Scouts of America has ruled: Gay boys are still banned from Scouting.

The decision, announced Tuesday, comes just two days after a Kansas City area Eagle Scout made national headlines for being removed from a leadership position at a Boy Scout camp near St. Joseph after revealing to his camp director that he is gay.

“It breaks my heart,” Scout Eric Jones, 19, said of the organization’s announcement Tuesday. “This is an organization that helps boys out. Telling them they can’t be who they are is wrong.”

Scouting’s announcement said the decision came after two years of consideration by an 11-person committee that had been asked to consider a resolution requesting the organization reconsider its longstanding membership policy. The committee included individuals inside and outside Boy Scouts, a statement said, and considered “a diversity of perspectives and opinions.”
