E-Votes Flip D to R in Texas, R to D in Illinois: More Trouble With Touch-Screens (2014 Edition)

And so begins our traditional, biennial (if not more frequent) coverage of partisans understandably freaking out when their 100% unverifiable touch-screen votes are seen flipping on screen from a candidate or candidates of their preferred party to a candidate or candidates from a different party...

Repub Federal Judge Who Approved Photo ID Law in 2008 Writes Devastating Dissent AGAINST Such Laws

Reagan-Appointed Federal Judge Who Approved First Photo ID Law in 2008 Writes Devastating Dissent AGAINST Photo ID Voting Restrictions
Judge Richard Posner: 'If the WI legislature says witches are a problem, shall WI courts be permitted to conduct witch trials?'...

If you read just one top-to-bottom dismantling of every supposed premise in support of disenfranchising Photo ID voting restrictions laws, let it be this one!

It is a dissent, released on Friday, written by Judge Richard Posner, the Reagan-appointed 7th Circuit Court of Appeals judge who was the one who approved the first such Photo ID law in the country (Indiana's) back in 2008, in the landmark Crawford v. Marion County case which went all the way to the Supreme Court, where Posner's ruling was affirmed.

If there was ever evidence that a jurist could change their mind upon review of additional subsequent evidence, this is it. If there was ever a concise and airtight case made against Photo ID laws and the threat they pose to our most basic right to vote, this is it. If there was ever a treatise revealing such laws for the blatantly partisan shell games that they are, this is it.

Posner's dissent includes a devastating response to virtually every false and/or disingenuous rightwing argument/talking point ever put forth in support of Photo ID voting restrictions...

Photo ID is NOT Required to Board an Airplane!: 7th Circuit Issues Blatant Falsehoods on WI Photo ID

Photo ID is NOT Required to Board an Airplane!: 7th Circuit Includes Blatant Falsehoods in New Opinion on WI's GOP Photo ID Voting Restriction
Election law expert describes ruling in advance of SCOTUS decision as 'Horrendous'...

Let me say this up front, so you don't miss it this time: No, a Photo ID is not required to board an airplane. Period.

Last week, the ACLU filed an emergency appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court in hopes of having the 7th Circuit Court of Appeal's ruling --- which overturned a lower court's injunction on Wisconsin's new Photo ID voting restriction --- stayed in advance of next month's election.

Today (Monday) a rather remarkable new opinion was issued by the 7th Circuit which seems designed to serve as a last-minute assist to the Republican defendants in Wisconsin in their response to the ACLU appeal, as Justice Elena Kagan has required the state's response no later than 5pm on Tuesday. The ruling is littered with blatant falsehoods...

FULL (MADDENING) STORY: http://www.bradblog.com/?p=10850

(NOTE: Not sure why, but this breaking story from last night on the release of the 7th Circuit's ruling in this case, filled with falsehoods from top to bottom that may be upheld by SCOTUS based on those falsehoods and result in the re-election of Scott Walker as well as similarly disenfranchising laws being upheld in TX, NC, AR and elsewhere, was locked today over at LBN, so I'm reposing here. - BF)

GOP Furious Arkansas AG Candidate Removed From Voting Rolls for Multi-State Registration, Voting

GOP Furious That Arkansas' Republican AG Candidate Removed From Voting Rolls After Confirmation of Multi-State Registration, Voting
WARNING: Amount of irony in this story may lead to head explosion...

UC Irvine law professor Rick Hasen says this development, which he describes as coming from the "Irony Dept", is just "too delicious".

Leslie Rutledge, the Republican candidate for Attorney General in Arkansas, has been discovered to have been registered to vote in multiple states in addition to Arkansas, and even voted by absentee ballot in Arkansas' general election in November of 2008 --- after she had registered to vote in Washington D.C. in July of the same year.

According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Rutledge has now been removed from Arkansas' voting rolls by the Pulaski County Clerk, after he confirmed that she was registered to vote in D.C., and Virginia. The removal may lead to her removal from the ballot as well.

But, believe it or not, none of that is the actual ironic part that Hasen was referring to in his piece on this today. Yes, it got even more ironic late today!...

GOP Operative Threatens BRAD BLOG w/ Suit After FL Probe Confirms Our 2012 Reg Fraud Reporting...

GOP Operative Threatens BRAD BLOG With Legal Action After FL Probe Confirms Our 2012 Reports on Deceptive Voter Registration Scheme, Fraud
Another Nathan Sproul worker arrested after 2-year investigation of 2012 GOP voter registration fraud scandal in Sunshine State...

Well, this is an interesting turn of events. It includes a bizarre twist that even we would not have foreseen, involving a Republican operative who is now threatening legal action against us for reporting (accurately) on his companies' relationship to voter registration fraud and deceptive voter registration practices during the 2012 election and in previous cycles.

Remember that massive, multi-state GOP voter registration fraud scandal just before the 2012 election? The one that started in Palm Beach, Florida, spread to several different counties, then several different states? The scandal resulted in the Republican National Committee firing the Arizona firm they had secretly hired for millions of dollars to carry out voter registration drives and get-out-the-vote efforts in a bunch of key swing-states, including Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Nevada and Colorado in advance of the Presidential Election.

The firm at the center of the RNC scandal was named Strategic Allied Consulting. It was created and run by Nathan Sproul, a notorious Arizona-based Republican operative with a checkered past, who ran Republican voter registration drives and other on-the-ground GOP activist campaigns...

GOP APPOINTEES ON FEDERAL APPEALS COURT RESTORE PHOTO ID VOTING RESTRICTION IN WI

GOP APPOINTEES ON FEDERAL APPEALS COURT RESTORE PHOTO ID VOTING RESTRICTION IN WI
Republican voter suppression laws getting huge boost from GOP jurists in WI and NC, where hundreds recently disenfranchised...

Wisconsin's Republican Gov. Scott Walker notched a huge victory today at the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. The ruling could very well result in the controversial Governor's re-election this November --- at the expense of untold thousands of legally registered voters who may now not be able to vote at all this year.

This morning, a three-judge panel heard Walker's appeal to the federal ruling that previously struck down his Photo ID voting restriction law. By afternoon, almost immediately following the hearing, the three GOP-appointed federal judges (a Reagan appointee, and two George W. Bush appointees) restored the restrictive voting measure in advance of the November general election…

Federal Judge Who Presided Over Siegelman Case & Who Recently Beat His Own Wife Bloody Strikes Deal

BREAKING: Federal Judge Who Presided Over Siegelman Case and Who Recently Beat His Own Wife Bloody Strikes Deal to Avoid Prosecution
Mark Fuller's charges to be dropped, record expunged following court-approved drug and alcohol evaluation and successful completion of once-a-week domestic violence program...

While Don Siegelman continues to serve out a 6.5 year prison sentence for something that 113 bipartisan former state Attorneys General argue has never ever been a crime until the former Democratic Governor of Alabama was charged with it, the federal U.S. District Court judge who presided over the trial and sentenced him has now struck a deal to avoid his own prosecution all together after having beaten his wife bloody in an Atlanta hotel room last month.

As we reported in an update last week, Judge Mark Fuller --- appointed to a lifetime job on the federal bench by George W. Bush in 2002 --- had reportedly checked into an unspecified "treatment program" in hopes of avoiding prosecution after being charged in August with domestic battery. Police reported at the time that they discovered the federal judge had dragged his wife around the hotel room by her hair, kicked her, and struck her several times in the mouth, leaving her with lacerations on her face, bruises on her legs, and blood found on the bathroom tub.

In court on Friday, Fuller struck a pre-trial deal to avoid prosecution entirely, despite reports that he had also beaten his previous wife as well, according to records from his 2012 divorce. Those records are said to have included accusations of drug abuse, domestic violence and infidelity with his court bailiff. The divorce papers were mysteriously sealed by the court at the time against the wishes of his former wife.

According to AP this afternoon, following the arrest on domestic abuse charges with his new wife, who has similarly charged that Fuller had an affair with his law clerk, it appears that Fuller will, once again, get off the hook...

GOP Voter Fraud Queen Ann Coulter Urges MS Senate Candidate to NOT Pursue Fraud Concerns

GOP Voter Fraud Queen Ann Coulter Urges MS Senate Candidate to NOT Pursue Fraud Concerns
Now why might that be?!...

Funny thing. For some reason, professional, weapons-grade Rightwing troll Ann Coulter doesn't think her fellow Republicans should waste their time looking into issues of vote fraud. We wonder why.

Coulter, writing an op-ed in Jackson, Mississippi's Clarion-Ledger on Thursday, is hoping to urge Republican "Tea Party" Senate candidate Chris McDaniel to not challenge the results of his very close, June 24th primary runoff election against six-term incumbent Republican Sen. Thad Cochran, warning that doing so is a "primrose path to political oblivion."

The irony here --- and the hypocrisy --- and even the criminality, as those familiar with The BRAD BLOG's years of exclusive reporting on Coulter's own personal problems with voter fraud --- is extraordinary...
