World of Warcraft: Finding love with an online avatar (video at link)

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-28096127

1 July 2014 Last updated at 16:09 BST

The stereotype of a computer gamer is of a single man playing alone in his bedroom or basement.

But the reality is that women also play - and get obsessed with - massive multi-player online role-playing games. And thanks to technology it no longer has to be an isolating experience.

Molly and Pete lived hundreds of miles apart in the US and would probably have never met were it not for their shared obsession with World of Warcraft. Now they're married.

They spoke to the BBC about the stigma of finding real-life love in an imaginary universe.

I know the map and NHC are at odds, but I'll take the NHC take. eta02: Apparently when NHC says no tropical cyclone formation, that apparently means no NEW storms.

Abortion gets much more difficult to obtain in Florida on Tuesday July 1

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10025172608

HB 1047 defines viability as the stage of development when the life of a fetus is sustainable outside the womb via standard medical measures. It would require physicians to conduct exams before performing abortions to determine if fetuses are viable, and if so, abortions generally wouldn't be allowed.

Supreme Court rejects appeal by Google over Street View data collection

http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-google-supreme-court-20140630-story.html

The U.S. Supreme Court has decided not to hear an appeal by Google over whether it violated federal wiretapping law when its Street View mapping cars collected consumers' personal data.

That leaves intact a federal appeals court ruling that the U.S. Wiretap Act protects the privacy of information on unencrypted in-home Wi-Fi networks and means Google can face lawsuits over the matter, according to a Bloomberg report.

The issue stems from Google's Street View, a comprehensive mapping program that provides images of areas around the world. Google has admitted that its camera-equipped Street View cars inadvertently captured emails, passwords and other data from unprotected wireless networks as they drove by.

In a statement, a Google spokesman said the Mountain View, Calif., company was disappointed that the Supreme Court had declined to hear the case.

Florida DU'ers, be advised, we may have a tropical storm soon off to the east...

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
200 PM EDT MON JUN 30 2014

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

Shower and thunderstorm activity has increased in association with
a low pressure area located about 125 miles east of Melbourne,
Florida. Environmental conditions are becoming more conducive for
development, and only a slight increase in organization would result
in the formation of a tropical depression. This system is moving
southwestward at around and 5 mph but is expected to turn westward
tonight and northward by Wednesday near the east Florida coast. A
turn toward the northeast near the southeastern U.S. coast is
expected by Thursday. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft
is en route to investigate the disturbance. If this system becomes
a tropical cyclone, a tropical storm watch could be required for
portions of the central or northern Atlantic coast of Florida.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent.
