Need a little prosecutor help here: Could Barr announce bogus prosecutions of Biden before Nov. 3 ?

Before you start typing, I'm not trying to do any nefarious thing here. I gave the legal limit to Biden
a few days ago (no way to prove this without giving out my personal info) and I've been a loyal Democrat since 1976.

Question: Could Barr make up some crap and file prosecutions against Biden, his family, his campaign and his friends before the election ? An October surprise. Is this just too farfetched ?

I do not know how federal prosecutions and DOJ work, hence the innocent and ignorant question.
Thank you for our patience.

Dozens of Florida hospitals max out of ICU capacity amid surge in COVID-19 cases

https://thehill.com/homenews/coronavirus-report/506881-dozens-of-florida-hospitals-max-out-of-icu-capacity-amid-surge-in

Dozens of hospitals in Florida are at their ICU capacity as the state struggles to contain its massive spike of COVID-19 cases.

According to new data released by the state's Agency for Health Care Administration, almost 85 percent of the state's ICU beds are occupied, with just 933 ICU available beds remaining across the state.

WFLA reported that 435 were hospitalized overnight Friday, a new record. At least 52 hospitals in the state have no ICU capacity left at all.

During a Friday press conference, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) tried to assuage fears over the mounting hospitalizations.

DeSantis cannot polish this turd, as much as he might try.

The "Big Lie" propaganda technique

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_lie

A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously". Hitler believed the technique was used by Jews to blame Germany's loss in World War I on German general Erich Ludendorff, who was a prominent nationalist and antisemitic political leader in the Weimar Republic.

Hitler's use of the expression

The source of the big lie technique is this passage, taken from Chapter 10 of James Murphy's translation of Mein Kampf (the quote is one paragraph in Murphy's translation and in the German original):

But it remained for the Jews, with their unqualified capacity for falsehood, and their fighting comrades, the Marxists, to impute responsibility for the downfall precisely to the man who alone had shown a superhuman will and energy in his effort to prevent the catastrophe which he had foreseen and to save the nation from that hour of complete overthrow and shame. By placing responsibility for the loss of the world war on the shoulders of Ludendorff they took away the weapon of moral right from the only adversary dangerous enough to be likely to succeed in bringing the betrayers of the Fatherland to Justice.

All this was inspired by the principle—which is quite true within itself—that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

—?Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X[1]

Goebbels's use of the expression

Though the following supposed quotation of Joseph Goebbels has been repeated in numerous books and articles and on thousands of web pages, none of them has cited a primary source. Thus its attribution to anyone must be considered dubious. According to the research and reasoning of Randall Bytwerk, it is an unlikely thing for Goebbels to have said.[2]

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

It is verified that Goebbels did put forth a theory which has come to be more commonly associated with the expression "big lie". Goebbels wrote the following paragraph in an article dated 12 January 1941, 16 years after Hitler's first use of the phrase. The article, titled Aus Churchills Lügenfabrik (English: "From Churchill's Lie Factory&quot was published in Die Zeit ohne Beispiel.

The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.[3]

Holocaust

Jeffrey Herf maintains that Goebbels and the Nazis used the big lie to turn long-standing anti-semitism into mass murder.[4] Herf argues that the big lie was a narrative of an innocent, besieged Germany striking back at an "international Jewry", which it said started World War I. The propaganda repeated over and over the claim that a conspiracy of Jews was the real power in Britain, Russia and the United States. It went on to state that the Jews had begun a "war of extermination" against Germany, and so Germany had a duty and a right to "exterminate" and "annihilate" the Jews in self-defense.[5]

If that technique reminds you of anyone in public office right now, you are not alone.

Miami-Dade mayor demands masks in public. But not for Trump

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article244135532.html

President Donald Trump stepped off Air Force One Friday in Miami without a mask into one of the worst coronavirus hot spots in the country.

The president, who flew into Miami-Dade County to visit the U.S. Southern Command and hold a Venezuela roundtable at a church in Doral, was exempted from a Miami-Dade County mask-wearing mandate thanks to carve-outs in the emergency order for churches and properties under federal jurisdiction. At Miami International Airport, where the order does apply to the general public, Trump did not have to don a facial covering since he was expected to head directly from the plane into the presidential limo on the runway, according to an airport spokesman.

But Trump didn’t head straight to the limo.

When he arrived at 12:15 p.m., Trump walked down the plane’s stairs and spoke briefly with Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who is running for Congress with Trump’s endorsement and imposed the mask-wearing rule as COVID-19 cases have soared. Gimenez appeared to lather his hands with sanitizer before Trump emerged from the plane, but the two did not shake hands, opting instead for an acknowledgment that was halfway between a nod and a bow.

As a parent, would you send your kid to public school in the current conditions ?

Florida just mandated school attendance in August, which includes virtual learning.

Yes, I know the schools can do things to reduce the risk. However....

Would you (or will you) send your kid to public school any time soon ?

Just curious, thanks in advance.

Florida schools ordered to reopen next month

https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2020/07/06/florida-education-secretary-issues-executive-order-to-reopen-schools-this-fall/

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida schools will open this fall amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which shows no signs of slowing, according to a statewide executive order issued Monday.

Florida Department of Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran signed the order Monday, with the stated goal of reopening all brick-and-mortar schools for at least five days a week for all students beginning in August, according to the executive order.

The executive order was signed around 11 a.m. Monday, hours later President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter, “SCHOOLS MUST OPEN IN THE FALL!!!”

Florida has reported more than 206,000 cases of COVID-19 since March and nearly 3,900 have died statewide in the same time period.

Order by Education Secretary is here: http://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/19861/urlt/DOE-2020-EO-06.pdf

DeSantis and his allies are INSANE if they think most parents will put their kids in school, in the current environment. I am sure the Trumpers will.

A former high school football player dove and caught a child dropped from the balcony of a burning building

He looked up and saw a petrified woman on a third-floor balcony with a child. Flames quickly crept up behind her.

“People started yelling for the lady to throw her kids down,” Blanks said.

The mother dropped her son over the railing. As Blanks saw the small child falling, he dove forward, arms out.

“I immediately got tunnel vision of the baby and somehow managed to catch him,” Blanks said.

What 9 GOP Campaign Consultants Really Think About Republicans' Chances in November

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/trump-reelection-chances-2020-house-senate-candidates-biden-1024862/

The mood in MAGA-land: “Every shred of evidence points to a likely ass kicking”

Shooting rubber bullet grenades at protesting priests. Catastrophically botching the pandemic response, resulting in a public health and economic calamity. Tweeting “white power” memes. Ranting in front of empty arenas about how he navigated a “slippery ramp.” Being MIA while his Russian benefactors put out a hit on American soldiers in Afghanistan.

The last 3 months have been a political dumpster fire for President Trump, and the flames have engulfed Republicans up and down the ballot. But while pockets of Republican resistance have roasted Dear Leader, elected officials in D.C. and their svengalis in the consultant class have remained steadfast.

These swamp creatures were never the biggest Trumpers in the first place — his initial campaign team was an assortment of d-listers and golf course grunts rather than traditional GOP ad men. So why, as Trump’s numbers plummet, are these establishment RINOs continuing to debase themselves to protect someone who is politically faltering and couldn’t care less about them?
