BEST OBAMA AD EVER - Ian's Letter: "Dear Mr. President"

Ian's Letter: "Dear Mr. President"

Dear Mr. President, My name is Ian. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and I am ten years old. I really hope that I can meet you someday because I would like to shake your hand and thank you for bringing my dad home from Iraq. My dad served two tours in Iraq. His time away was really hard for me. This is a note that my dad sent me: "My dearest Ian, son, I miss you so much..." I had trouble sleeping sometimes because I was so worried about him. He gave me his dog tags before he left and I kept them with me all the time so that I can feel close to him. Because you ended the Iraq war I have my dad back safe. Now I get to spend birthdays and holidays with my dad. And we can do all the things I have missed out on while he was away. I look up to you both and I want to be just like you. Thank you, Ian

ROMNEY COLLAPSE IN GRANITE STATE---NH GOP Has Recieved The Message & They No Longer Give A Shit

This is How a Blow-Out Starts
by BooMan
Mon Oct 1st, 2012 at 10:17:05 PM EST

According to the WMUR Granite State poll, Romney's campaign in New Hampshire has utterly collapsed. Obama leads with independents 47%-29% and he has a 27% advantage with women. Add that up and Obama leads 52%-37% overall and 54%-39% once you push leaners. It seems almost certain that Obama will top 55% in the state, while Romney will struggle to top 40%.

That means we will almost certainly win both House seats in the state. The Democrats have a 12% advantage in motivation, too, which shows that it has been important to hammer home the fact that Romney is going to lose. The New Hampshire GOP has received the message and they no longer give a shit.

This is how a campaign crumbles. Remember, I compared it to arm-wrestling. It can look competitive for a long time, but ultimately one side is stronger and the victory can be sudden and jarring. Pollsters were seeing an enthusiasm gap that favored Republicans all year long, and their likely voter models reflected that. But the enthusiasm gap has been closed, or even reversed in some places. That's why the GOP has launched this absurd campaign about unskewed polls. They can't let their troops realize the game is over or the floor will fall out below them. And, in New Hampshire, it already has.

AUDIENCE BOOS SCOTT BROWN FOR NAMING SCALIA AS ‘MODEL JUSTICE’ | Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) was booed by the audience at the second Massachusetts Senate Debate on Monday evening, after he named conservative Justice Antonin Scalia as his model Supreme Court justice. Upon hearing the crowd’s reaction, he quickly added Justices Anthony Kennedy, Sonia Sotomayor, and Chief Justice John Roberts to his list. “That’s the beauty of being an independent,” Brown quipped.

Scott Brown Really Shot Himself In The Foot When He Said Justice Scalia Was His 'Model' Supreme Court Justice

Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren covered her face as the crowd booed her challenger, Republican Scott Brown. Brown had just hailed Justice Antonin Scalia as his "model" Supreme Court justice, and Warren was already using the opportunity to pounce.

During a contentious second Massachusetts Senate debate, Brown went through a wild swing of opinions when moderator David Gregory asked him his "model" justice.

"Let me see, here. That's a great question," Brown said. "I think Justice Scalia is a very good judge."

The crowd at the debate immediately booed, and Warren began to cover up her face, perhaps realizing her challenger's mistake.

Beck: God put Romney behind in polls to prove it’s a miracle when he wins

Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck says that GOP hopeful Mitt Romney’s poll numbers have fallen as a part of a plan from God to make it obvious to the American people that divine intervention was responsible when Republicans take the White House in November.

“I know Mitt Romney wasn’t your first choice, nor was he mine,” Beck recently told controversial “historian” David Barton in a video clip highlighted by Right Wing Watch on Monday. “I am to the point that — A — God is trying to make this so clear to us that if it happens, it’s his finger. Because nothing looks good.”

“And yet, everybody I know who I consider a spiritual giant feels good,” he continued. “And it bothers me that I feel good because, I’m like, there’s no reason that I should feel good on this.”

The former Fox News host went on to explain that Romney’s hidden private life proved that he was “kind of on the line” with President George Washington.

ONION: Mitt Romney Frantically Running Around Ohio Smiling And Waving

CANTON, OH—As part of an effort to cut into President Obama’s lead in the crucial swing state of Ohio, Mitt Romney reportedly ran at full speed Monday around the entire state screaming “Hello!” at the top of his lungs while smiling and waving indiscriminately. “Hello, Ohio! How ya doing? Hi! How is everybody? I’m Mitt Romney!” the breathless, sweat-drenched candidate spat out randomly as he tore across the state without pause, furiously kissing babies and tossing them backwards over his shoulder in a mad dash that has now taken him through 30 of Ohio’s 88 counties. “The beautiful state of Ohio! Go Buckeyes! Jobs! Ohio! Hello! I’m Mitt Romney!” At press time, Romney had reportedly dived through the plate-glass front window of a North Canton bar, scrambled to his feet, wolfed down a large plate of pancakes, waved to restaurant patrons for five seconds, furiously stammered out a few words about the economy, stumbled out through the front door, and sprinted in the direction of Youngstown.

"People think the election's done. Well, it' NOT"---AXELROD We CANNOT Be "irrationally exuberant."

"There can be an inflated sense of confidence that has an impact on turnout. People think the election's done. Well, it's not. It's going to be a close election. You don't want people to be irrationally exuberant."

High court leaves Clinton-era rule intact, turning aside mining industry petition
By Ben Geman - 10/01/12 10:57 AM ET

The Supreme Court won’t hear state, mining and oil industry challenges to regulations issued at the tail end of Bill Clinton’s presidency that are aimed at protecting wide swaths of national forest lands.

The justices on Monday said they would let stand an appellate decision upholding the so-called roadless rule, which prevents road construction and timber harvesting on 58.5 million acres of National Forest System lands.

The justices without comment turned back petitions from the state of Wyoming and the mining industry challenging the rule, which was finalized in January 2001. Groups including the American Petroleum Institute, which is the oil industry’s main trade group, had joined the effort to win Supreme Court review.

Eight other states had also urged review, according to Bloomberg.

After Obama guidance, Lockheed won’t issue layoff notices this year
By Jeremy Herb - 10/01/12 11:10 AM ET

Lockheed Martin said Monday it will not issue employee layoff notices this year, ending an election-year showdown with the Obama administration.

The company said it based its decision on new guidance issued Friday by the Office of Management and Budget and the Pentagon.

The guidance said the Pentagon did not anticipate killing any contracts on Jan. 2, the day automatic spending cuts are set to begin hitting defense spending. The guidance also said the federal government would cover severance costs that are mandated under a federal layoff notices law.

The decision by Lockheed means tens of thousands won't get layoff notices days before Election Day, which might have cast a crucial blow against President Obama's reelection chances.
