Slate: Six Obvious Lessons From Obama’s Victory

The adrenalin has faded. The exhaustion is setting in. The realization that the campaign is over and the task of governing awaits is growing on the victors. The quiet reality of loss is setting in for the vanquished. For the rest of us, the question remains: What does it all mean?

So here are a few quick takes. And remember, sometimes the most obvious is also the most important.

- First, the Tea Party got thumped.
- Second, in the melting pot that is America, inclusive trumps exclusive.
- Third, pandering on everything doesn't work.
- Fourth, we really did build this—all of us, together.
- Fifth, the Republican House has to figure out whether to continue to play obstructionist naysayer or come to the table.

And finally, the question for the president. Will he tell the story of our national success with power and passion, as he can and did last night, to build support for the range of issues that demand attention—from the fiscal cliff to the environment to the stagnation of middle-class income to the ravages of gun violence? He has won re-election and with it the power of the pulpit. Let's hope he uses it.

I think they missed one - Hate is not acceptable! We have lived with 4 years or hate aimed at the President from the right and it caught up to them with this election.

Money can't buy happiness, or an election

First the mug shots of the candidates who were bought:

From MSN:
By Rachael Marcus and John Dunbar, The Center for Public Integrity

Money can't buy happiness, nor can it buy an election, apparently.

The top donors to super PACs in 2012 did not fare well — casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, the No. 1 super PAC contributor with more than $53 million in giving, backed eight losers at this writing.

Adelson was top backer of the pro-Mitt Romney Restore Our Future super PAC, with $20 million in donations. Romney lost to President Barack Obama. In addition, Adelson's contributions to super PACs backing U.S. Senate candidates in Florida, Virginia and New Jersey were also for naught.

He was not the only conservative billionaire who had a bad night.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contran Corp. CEO Harold Simmons, (No. 2), homebuilder Bob Perry (No. 3) and TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts, (No.4), also bet on Romney. Collectively, the trio gave $13.4 million to Restore Our Future, and Ricketts' super PAC, Ending Spending Action Fund, spent an additional $9.9 million helping Romney's failed bid.

I am stuck in an all day meeting with upper management

One of them is acting like he lost someone very close to him. Which is really weird because when his mother and father died, he didn't even take time off for the funerals.

This meeting is full of really down people, it is difficult to deal with these people today. I am trying to tip-toe through the mine field.

I have to go back in there in a couple of minutes for the rest of the day.
