Courage v. Cowardice

"QUICK, get in! There's no time to explain!"

Mother Surprised Son Needs So Much Ammunition For First Day Of School

VERSAILLES, PA—With a list of back-to-school supplies that included an AR-15 rifle, three Walther P22 pistols, and four X-15 skeletonized drum magazines, local mother Amy Bromka asked her 15-year-old son, Tyler, Monday if he really needed all that ammunition for his first day of school. “Honey, can you even fit all of that in your backpack?” Bromka reportedly asked of the near 40 pounds of smooth-feeding 30-round speed loaders Tyler said he “totally needed.” “It just seems like a lot of guns and ammunition, sweetie. And I don’t think you need more than two three-subject notebooks, either.” At press time, Tyler’s best friend Ben had just given his mom a similar list.

When I watched the March ceremony in DC, I really missed being there

That would have been a special time to be back in the city with everyone.

FINAL SCORE: 1 scared White customer wins a victorious rout over 25 peaceful Black customers

Blacks Asked to Leave Wild Wing Cafe because White Customer Felt Threatened
BY HASSAHN LIGGINS – POSTED ON AUGUST 24, 2013

Once again we are witnessing the true power of social media. You are hearing about this story because one man posted about his experience on Facebook at a Wild Wing Cafe in North Charleston, SC, where his friends and family suffered some “1960′s” style discrimination.

A group of 25 Black people waited two hours to get in a Wild Wing Cafe restaurant in North Charleston, South Carolina, only to be asked to leave almost immediately after entering the restaurant because a white customer felt “threatened” by their presence. One member of the group, MIchael Brown, took his complaint to Facebook when the corporate office of the restaurant did not call him back after placing several calls.

Mr. Brown says he was celebrating his cousin’s last day in Charleston last month at Wild Wing Cafe in North Charleston. He says after his party of 25 peacefully waited two hours for a table, the shift manager told them there was a “situation.”

“She said there’s a situation where one of our customers feels threatened by your party, so she asked us not to seat you in our section, which totally alarmed all of us because we’re sitting there peaceably for two hours,” explains Brown. “Obviously, if we were causing any conflict, we would have been ejected out of the place hours before.”

Brown says while he was talking to the shift manager, someone in his group began videotaping the conversation. Brown says that’s when the manager became upset and refused to seat them.

“I asked her I want to be clear with you,” says Brown. “I said so you’re telling me I have to leave. She said I have a right to deny you service. I said so you’re asking me to leave because you’re upset because he was recording you, after we’ve waited for two hours, and after you’ve already pretty much discriminated on us, and she answered yes.”

If you understand, as I do, that one is born with their own particular gender identity...

And sexual orientation, then quite plainly, any honest person would conclude that the person that we now know as Chelsea Manning has ALWAYS considered herself as female, even when we only knew her as "Bradley".

Quite simply, Manning didn't "change" into a female, Manning has been a female since day one. It's not like it's a "choice."

A transition isn't about changing anything that has to do with an already established self-identity. Transition is about adjusting various physical, cultural and legal attributes of a person to match established "norms" with what a person's gender identity already is.

Now we can have a discussion about how screwed up our current system of binary based, rigidly enforced and utterly inappropriate definitions of gender identity, and of course, it's quite clear that for most people... Even those that would rather chose not to be transphobic, there's always stuff to learn. I'm sure that it would be a lively and highly informative discussion... As long as all involved have open minds and are respectful.

So, in the interest of being as informative as I can, I'm adding a few graphics and links about the subject at hand from Tumblr, which I think is a great source of information because it relays the perspectives of trans people themselves.

AND here's a vid:

Yes, it can all be confusing, but I think that we're all capable of learning.

By the way, I was born a straight man, but despite of that I do have a choice... I choose not to be narrow and uninformed.

Pvt Manning's revelation as a transgender military person should start a conversation...

Although I doubt that the military command wants ANY conversation about transgender troops in the ranks.

It should come to no surprise that there are, as we speak, military personnel who are pre-transitioned transgender. There have been several cases where members, once leaving the ranks, sought transition. Many vets, of which performed in the most dangerous and hazardous duties and served honorably and with distinction.

That he-man super-soldier that you know... That person COULD be transgender while in uniform and is pretty much forbidden to reveal that fact. If their true status were to be revealed, it would irreparably destroy their lives and careers under the current policies, in spite of the end of DADT.

It should be of no surprise that Pvt. Manning revealed her own status as a transgender person after being convicted to 35 years in Federal Prison. Shoot, what ELSE can the military do to her?

Anyway, here's a vid that talks about the issue. Enjoy.
