Snip: By not sticking around for more primaries, O’Malley leaves the race with his reputation undamaged and likely will be around to fight another day.

“Although it might not have been Governor O’Malley’s year and while the results of tonight’s caucus are disappointing, he leaves the race with an enhanced national profile and proved himself to be a well-liked figure and positive force within the Democratic Party,” said campaign manager David Hamrick. “We believe strongly that his voice will be a compelling one within the Party in the weeks, months and years ahead.”

Hamrick made it clear O’Malley won’t be silenced. “He plans to continue to play a forceful role in the Democratic Party and the national debate going forward,” Hamrick said.

“His distinguished record as a mayor and governor, as well as his plans for continued progress, inspired the people of our state and I look forward to his continued service to the nation and our working families,” McGuire said.
