Here in Alberta the NDP is set to topple the PC's who have been in power for 44 years thanks to our leader Rachel Notley. A T-shirt that supporters have been wearing reminds me of this:

(45,274 posts)I met several people there who have remained friends, including a couple of DUers.
I remember wearing it to Fightin' Bob Fest in 2003, much to the disapproval of about 2/3 of the crowd, most of whom were hard-core Kucinich fans.
I had nothing against Kooch--love him, in fact, and his positions were just fine, but I didn't see him as electable.
Same thing as they're saying about Bernie these days, but I don't get the same hopeless-cause feeling about Bernie. It's a gut-level thing. You just look at Bernie & he radiates trust in a way that Dennis never did. While Dennis appealed to my head, Bernie appeals to my heart.
Hopefully soon with the info!

Copy it and paste it to your "paint" program. Than go to tinypic.com and click browse, find your saved copy, and it will load up. Copy and paste the address here.. you can do that with any pic, and if that doesn't work, just use print screen, copy it to paint, and cut out the image..than off again to tinypic.com.

(7,911 posts)They will only see the "gang tattoos", and that will conjure up all the stereotypes of punks and motorcycle gangs. While myself (at age 70) don't have a problem with ink, I know for a fact that many, if not most of the people of my generation have a very negative reaction to that kind of skin art. A big part of good communication is knowing your audience. If you want people to hear your message don't start out by alienating them.
Go ahead, flame me for being out of touch and narrow minded. But I'll say it again: I don't have a problem with it, but most of the people of my age that I know will have a problem with it. If you don't want their votes, this is the right way to not get them.

(9,688 posts)I think it's a wig.
But that's just IMO, of course.

The tats in the picture work well with the hair-do.

Binkie The Clown
(7,911 posts)I'm fine with it, and I'm also a flaming liberal.
But DU is not the world, so taking poll of senior DU members would show a very different result than taking a poll of senior citizens from the general population.
OffWithTheirHeads
(10,337 posts)I grew up in San Francisco. Four years ago we moved to Ticson Arizona. I thought we were the only progressivs in the state so I started looking. Found Drinking Liberally Tucson. Hundreds of people in my demographic. Found Sunflower Democrats and Friends democratic club. More hundreds. Became president of said club. Founded Marana Democrats Democratic club. Became a Precinct Comittie person In Legislative District 11. Found six other clubs in LD11. now we are up to housands. Similar demographics, similar political views. Trying to grow our club, I asked the Pima County Dems to Give me a list of registered Dems in about a ten square mile radius of my house. There are THOUSANDS of us! I'm sure many of my neighbors think they are the only dems around. They are wrong and our club has begun the process of reaching out to each and every one of them to let them know that. When we figure out how to do hat most effectivly, our results are going to be used by all the other Democratic clubs in and around Tucson to do the same.
Yes, DU is a bubble. Virtually no one I've talked to in the above has even heard of DU but every one of them that I've talked to shares our values. There are a lot more of us old Hippies out there than you think. I'm doing the work and I'm finding them.
yuiyoshida
(41,831 posts)I HOPE you can drag many of them to DU and especially to the Bernie Sanders group! We can be a force to be heard!

(41,831 posts)it may come from a commercial vender, but ya know, no one says you can't buy the shirt and still contribute to the campaign. I like the shirt, and it says what I like, so I would wear it... if the vendor makes a little money, is fine buy me..its not like its coming from some huge Corporation that Bernie himself would abhor.
