Q: re getting to Alliant Center in late afternoon? Anyone experienced with Madison WI?

I am planning on arriving a bit early but that's going to put me coming into town roughly during most people's drive home.

My usual drive to Madtown is to come in on 151/East Washington, and I could do 151 and run into John Nolen dr ending up with a righthand turn into the Alliant Center.

Because of other activities in my day, coming into town on Hwy 18 would be 15 miles less driving...but I don't know the south side of town very well. Is it possible and how tough is it in the late afternoon to make a left off John Nolen drive to get onto HWY MM/Rimrock to enter the Alliant Center?

I haven't been in Madison in probably ten years. It was bogged down with construction then too. nt Snotcicles Jun 2015 #3

in a part of town I very rarely go through. I think I came up Rimrock once in the past 3 years coming back from the Mt Horeb area, and there was a huge amount of construction at the time.

Exits are clearly marked. Some constuction as of 2 weeks ago.
Expect delays from mass movement of people, 9500(plus) expected attendence.

I plan on attending. I will post road conditions as I can.

Long ago I worked on E. Washington near where it goes over the Yahara. I am generally unlikely to get lost when in the Isthmus neighborhoods. If I go down E. Wash the SO will pine for me to stop at Ella's

Southside of town is pretty much terra incognito for me. I know getting off the Beltline would put me immediately close to the Alliant Center, in addition to mileage that seems an advantage...I just wonder about the left turn onto MM/Rimrock. I dislike left turns in heavy traffic

I'm coming from the east, so I had to confirm lights on Google Earth. However, My subset of filters that has the construction alerts isn't loading, so I'm not very sure how bad it might be.
