All,
Wanted to introduce myself to this board. May as well get this out now ... I am a Moderate Democrat who believes in the 2nd Amendment. I have already been accused of being a "Gun Troll" which I am not. Republicans do not have a Monopoly on the 2nd Amendment. (That's a good thing for me) I earn a living as a firearms instructor and armorer. I hope that my presence here will be welcome, and informative. As for other positions, well, I think you will find some of my perspectives a little interesting. I identify as a Democrat but I do not fall in lock step with the party line.

2. 100% Background Checks
|
= OK with me with...
As long as there are clear definitions about what can exclude you from purchasing a firearm. If we say you can't be a felon, OK. If we say you have to have good credit, own a home and have a 6 figure bank balance, and glowing recomendation letters from your last 5 employers, now I will start to have a problem with it. As for responsible gun ownership, that's something that needs to be learned, not legislated. Sorry - I am an instructor and take the responsible gun ownership part very seriously. If we have to pass laws about it I've failed at my job. |

6. not at the federal level

But try to get a nyc carry permit.
They want credit scores, references, and to 300 application fee. Im all for background checks as long as the requirements are reasonable. |

Don't be a wingnut.
Alas, enforcement sometimes is spotty. |

Is there an FAQ around here? I'm trying to find out what the minimum comment/posting ratio is.

14. I think you need to make 10 replies before you can start a thread.
|
After that there aren't any restrictions on starting threads - you could only start threads and never post a reply in any if that's what you wanted.
So there isn't a minimum comment/posting ratio at all, just a minimum number of replies needed before you are able to start threads. If your question is related to something else, ignore this response. Welcome to DU. |
