Why are posters allowed to respond to another poster's replies after that poster has had a post

hidden and is no longer able to post in that particular thread?

1. That's part of the incentive for people to post things that won't get hidden. ( n/t )

6. How many polite, on-topic, substantive posts have you seen hidden?

I don't think it is some monumental task to write a post in such a way that it is extremely unlikely to be hidden.

Often words can be misinterpreted in a primarily text based medium such as this, so being clear on your meaning is essential to not having your words misconstrued. For example - if you are being ironic, sometimes a disclaimer at the end of the post can make that clear so people won't get the wrong idea.

As to your point, I can pretty much guarantee that this post (that I am still writing as of this moment) will not be hidden. Do you disagree? Is it difficult to say whether or not it will be hidden by six randomly selected DU members?

3. Actually, you can't reply directed to a hidden post.

People could certainly refer to hidden posts elsewhere in the thread, though. Otherwise, you could deliberately say something provocative in an attempt to shut down a thread.

4. I didn't say they responded to the hidden post, but rather to another post in the same thread

to which the poster, whose post was hidden, can no longer respond to any post in that particular thread.

8. Interesting. I'm still getting the "cannot reply to hidden messages" icon where the

"reply" button should be. I assume you created your own link?
