For some reason my screen view is going all wonky on posts

posts appearing in the middle of other posts so I can't see or scroll down to the end.

Pictures cut in half with the replies below in the middle.

Some times straight lines behind the posts.

Just had to cancel a jury service because of this. It would let me scroll down even to cast my final vote on the post.

Some screen adjustment I need to make or something or is anyone else having this problem?

1. What is often helpful in troubleshooting issues...

... is more information about what pages the problem appears on and what you are using to view them with.

I've seen weird formatting happen a few times when spam is deleted (for example), and I recall reading threads where people describe odd things similar to what you are experiencing. If I am remembering correctly, it mostly seemed to happen for users of Internet Explorer.

So if you could share a link or two to threads where these issues are occurring and also what browser, version, and operating system you are using, that would help in trying to find the problem. For example: I am currently using FireFox 16 on a Windows7 laptop.

8. I opened that thread in IE9, Chrome23, FF16, and Opera12 with no issues.

The only thing different I noticed was the padding around the actual replies in IE made the thread indentation images not always line up with the left edge of the reply - but that's probably just the normal issue of IE rendering things slightly differently than everyone else. That may explain why this issue seems to affect IE users in particular.

I used the 32-bit version of IE - it is more than likely that's what you are using also, but it might not hurt to double check in case the 64-bit version is acting differently (if you have a 64-bit OS). The only other thing I can think of trying within IE is to click on the Compatibility View icon (looks like a piece of paper torn in half) in the address bar when it happens to see if that clears it up.

Compatibility View: websites designed for older browsers will often look better, and problems such as out-of-place menus, images, or text will be corrected.

I'd say if you keep having this issue, you might want to try other browsers to see if you like them better - they're pretty much all an improvement over IE.

10. The Compatibility View corrected the problem.

Thank you!

13. Thanks!

I thought I was going to have to ask one of my kids.

2. What Browser?

It may also be an update problem with your software

Or it might be your screen resolution or window width is too low so images in posts are "breaking" the formatting.

5. Explorer 9. I have Google Chrome downloaded so maybe I should

try opening DU with that, and see if I still have the same problem.

7. Try Chrome, it is a very effective browser

Though I'm an Opera man myself.

Haven't used Explorer of 8 years or more

11. I have been experimenting with Chrome.

It downloaded with a game I bought once. I also had to use it once when Explorer froze me out of Amazon once when I was trying to download a song. I do like it.

3. I've been having the same problem.

Usually clicking on the errent post fixes it, but not when on jury duty. Very frustrating.

And this is very sporadic.

6. Clicking on the post sometimes helps for me too but not always.

It seems to be doing it most on the posts with more responses especially ones with graphics. I was surprised to have it happen today on jury duty. Like you said it is most frustrating then.

9. Are you on a mobile device? They act a lot differently. Someone here will know what to do.

12. I was using my HP Desktop to access DU and my sisters when I visit her house.

They were both doing it. Her browser is IE 9 too.

Clicking the compatibility view as Make7 suggested did fix it.

Thank you and everybody who responded. I love DUers. You help me figure out all the computer changes that have happened since I last took a course or worked with newer upgrades.
