Request/Suggestion/Information

I know members here use the ignore function liberally to try to make this place a bit more pleasurable for their personal perusing. Nothing wrong with that, I get it.

However, I want to bring to your attention, that in doing so you are preventing yourself from serving on juries of those you have placed on ignore.

Think of the ramifications of doing this.

Just FYI.

Detailed Explanation of the Jury Selection Process

For those who are interested, this sections provides a detailed breakdown of the Jury selection process.

Immediately after a Community Standards alert is sent our software begins to seat a Jury by randomly flagging members who are currently browsing DU. Members are excluded from serving if:
•they have their "Willingness to serve on a DU Jury" option set to "Unwilling"
they are ignoring the alerted member
•they are blocking DU mail from the alerted member
•they have replied to the alerted member within the last 24 hours
•they have alerted on the alerted member within the last 24 hours
•they have posted in the thread which contains the alerted post
•they are on the alerted member's Jury Blacklist

i have no one on ignore. i get why people use. and again, respect that choice. what works best. i am fine with no ignores. but... the point of jury pool is good to know.

we are told to use it generously. and lots do. that also shrinks the pool. and many are here not to interact but effect the pool. that already has an unfair advantage.

I don't have more for the very reason you list, but of course I am sure I am on many a jury blacklist. The thing about me is I will hide a post by someone I like personally and leave one by someone I dislike because I seek to be fair.

may adjust your blacklists accordingly.

I don't have anyone on ignore.

Also, I approach Jury Duty as objectively as I possibly can. Mostly, I try not to look at who is the poster and just the essence of the post. I read The OP and scan the thread for content. I look closely at the replies in the sub-thread for context and vote as fairly as I can. I am only human and am sure I have made the wrong call a time or two but, I did my best and I am at peace with it.

When I serve on juries I try to be as impartial as humanly possible.

I would take it ones step further .... Volunteer at least once to host a forum

I do get called a lot and I try to serve when I can. If I really can't discern how I could vote, I
ask to be excused so I won't make a mistake. But I don't know whose Jury Blacklist I could be on. How do I find that out?

I have a lot to worry about in my life and I don't want to have an extra worry with DU.

I like DU a lot but it's not my full time job...

I tried ignoring people, but it seems silly except for one who I am just convinced is a troll and spams the board with his OPs. He occasionally jumps into the gender mix, but mostly just is an all purpose Obama basher. And one more who seems to be trying to make a point with the "Rude Pundit'--a blogger I usually enjoy and go read my own damn self. That's it.

I refuse to be baited, and I'll trash a thread the moment I see one that serve no purpose other than to cause trouble.
