2. An Australian lesbian feminist scholar and political activist..... Fair question...

Last edited Sun Jun 17, 2012, 10:05 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Sheila Jeffreys (born 1948) is a lesbian feminist scholar and political activist, known for her analysis of the history and politics of sexuality in Britain. She is a professor in Political Science at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Jeffreys's argument that the "sexual revolution" on men's terms contributed less to women's freedom than to their continued oppression has both commanded respect and attracted intense criticism. Jeffreys argues that transsexuals reproduce oppressive gender roles and mutilate their bodies through sex reassignment surgery. Some of Jeffrey's other controversial positions are that lesbian culture has been negatively affected by emulating the sexist influence of the gay male subculture of dominant/submissive sexuality, and that women suffering pain in pursuit of beauty is a form of submission to patriarchal sadism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheila_Jeffreys There are some lesbian separatists who believe this (and some straight feminists)..... I don't agree with it.... I assume the bold is the issue you want to highlight? What say ye DU? Pipe in, speak out. I for one am very anxious to hear Whisps intellectual opinion on this subject. Lord knows, we all want to be labeled by our sisters with the opinions of fringe groups. |

3. No, she's not, but for someone who is a host in the

feminist forum, you sure have a bug up your ass about feminists. Now go back to deriding feminist as one dimensional cartoon characters somewhere else.
