Counting Dead Women

I've always wanted to do a site like this but have always been daunted by the size and the numbers for doing it for the US. Does anyone know of any kind of project in the US where maybe it could be a collective effort where local feminists reported on their own area so the scope and size of the project wouldn't be so daunting?

It would have to be a majorly collective effort with a few very well organized people running it.

I am not organized or social enough to run a project like that.

I think it is a very important cause and I am sickened by the number or women killed by the men who love/loved/thought they loved them.

I think the UK project is eye opening, even if it is depressing.

3. Statistics are "faceless" by their nature. Very true.

I suppose one might ask for contributions from individuals (of any gender) RE: women they've known who've been murdered by intimate partners - whether the woman killed was a relative, friend, former lover, etc. of the contributor. That would seem to provide the personal, human aspect you're looking for.

Just a thought. This is an idea I'd like to encourage any way I can - putting a human face on the problem tends to make it more "real," and perhaps more urgent as well.
