Heart Attacks Kill Women More Often Then Men Because Of Failed Medical Examinations [Study]

Heart attacks have been known as the silent killer of women for years because they are often not detected with the same painful effects felt by men and now a recent study has confirmed that fact, reporting that women are more likely to die during a hospital visit when compared to males

“It’s been sinking in to cardiologists for a while that women having heart attacks are more likely to have symptoms other than the classic chest pain syndrome that we see in the movies … I was shocked, though, at how closely this was associated with worse outcomes and more cardiac death in women with heart attacks. This study makes me worried that we still don’t get it.”

If you’re a female with a history of heart problems in your family you should mention a possible heart attack to your doctor if you feel the following symptoms:

“Nausea, shortness of breath, vomiting, light-headedness, pain in the back or jaw, and sudden, crippling fatigue.”

when she was home alone all weekend. she knew she was "sick" but it didn't occur to her that it was a heart attack, never went to the doctor.

later, when she had an EKG during a routine exam, the doctor (who hadn't seen her before) asked her when she'd had a heart attack! it showed on the test ... thinking back, she remembered being sick with the symptoms you listed....

we are told when left arm goes numb, "heartburn" pain, chest pain. i thought i was having a heart attack a couple years ago. the doctor was snotty when i said i was having chest pain. i forget how it was phrased. but she never told me what to watch out for. i later listened to oprah, and it was said women in forties often have chest pain that has nothing to do with heart. i am thinking.... then how do you know if you are having a heart attack. but it seems the symptom for women is totally different.

and then when you get a stupid, lazy doctor who poo-poohs your pain or otherwise disses you, it sure doesn't help does it?

i'm lucky, i like my doctor and i know she takes me seriously.

I had no idea either. His receptionist had mild mini stroke and when she finally came back to work she started telling me about this and gave my an article from some mag (maybe Health?).

It was good to see a reminder of the symptoms.

THanks for the post!

I've woken up this way since I figured out that

I get past it.
