girls become women by aging. boys become men by doing.

There are a few arguments Jon Stewart doesn't understand about the women in combat debate.

Argument: Putting women in male-dominated combat units would encourage improper sexual relationships, wearing on unit cohesion.

Stewart: "Have some standard, some code, that governs the military, like, a military code of conduct."

Argument: Women aren't physically capable.

Stewart: "Maybe the military could have a requirement pertaining to physical fitness, say a physical fitness requirement?"

1. I saw that asshole saying that--Samantha Bee wondered if he'd ever met a woman

who didn't want to strangle him.

2. po hubby.... as he lay in bed next to me.

then they come up with the bud commercial of a shot of a womans crotch for 20 seconds. i asked hubby... you think bud will next do a shot of the mans crotch letting us just look at his package for 20 sec? he didnt think so. i have noticed bud does this. prior commercial is all kinds of people at party ho,ding beer. all the shots of men is with their face. the woman? holding at chest level, and just shot of boobs and beer. nothing subtle in that.

i did like how samantha did the piece, though.

4. yes.

i do not know if i would necessarily use that word, but i get another feeling that. he is certainly a man that needs to have his privilege. i say this delicately because it is a little complex what i see. he is a man that really feels an equality for women i think. but, also a man, that needs to have the sexism to feel like a man. maybe it is both colbert and stewarts desire to use the edge of comedy and what easier way than to use women to do it. maybe that is why i do not necessarily feel they are misogynist like maher. but see the sexism of male privilege.

5. Oh for Gods sake

Once again, my daughter was in for army for almost 9 years. She held her own, as did most of the women she deployed with. Why is no one talking about lazy ass men who are in but don't physically qualify? Or barely get by? There are more of those than you'd think.

6. that was the good point, though subtle and dont know if people picked up... BUT

what i have been saying. there are a lot of little men in service, or out of shape, and there are a lot of bigger women and in shape and strong that can easily kick their ass. lol. we are not all itsy bitsy.

9. My daughter made it a point to be at the top of PT

She was never 'in back of the line' she felt she needed to uphold standards because she was a women in a non- traditional field. She actually tried to go Airborne, but developed shin splints from all that double time. So she learned to rappel out of helicopters instead

Have to admit, I didn't watch the video, I will though

over men to be sure to not let down the whole are totally fuckin' dismiss, ridiculed, ignored, or not appreciate and recognized.

i betcha all the women in the top do exactly this.

yet... we have men dismissing their efforts and accomplishments.

7. I'll be more clear.

Jon Stewart is smarmy when it comes to women. With political discussions, he is usually right on. His use-to-be sidekick Colbert is even worse when it comes to women, the last time I tuned in, he had Tommy Chong on as a guest and they were both having loads of fun discussing the way they would "take" a previous guest (a gov. rep.) who was just on the show. Discussing having oral sex with her etc...

Jesus! That pissed me off. Have never watched again.

11. Colbert did that? Really?

I don't watch either of them often, but that really disappoints.
