I am so sick of

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by hlthe2b (a host of the History of Feminism group).

The continuous attacks on THIS group.

Alerts get nothing except maybe mockery. I don't know how much more of this place I can stand.

And I have a sneaking suspicion the TOS might have been changed precisely to drive the members of this group out.

Of course there is no way to harm this group that does not involve collateral damage to a whole bunch of women and all men and women who are survivors of rape.

I don't know how to resolve this, but it seems so clear to me there is a big bullseye target on this group.

I care about this group and the issues we discuss, I just don't come here all that often because I find so much of the info here really gets me in a bad way emotionally. I feel like I'm one of those people you read about in the news who explodes with rage. I feel like there is a monster inside me that I've been struggling to keep contained all my life. When I read things here sometimes that monster seems to get stronger and I'm too afraid of what could happen if the monster got free. I just want to get through life without causing massive harm to myself or others. Maybe everyone has a monster inside, not just me. I don't know. This is the first time I've ever talked about the monster inside.

speaking the stories, and finding the best of who we are. now you need to give it to yourself. truly give it to yourself. you know what you want and how to do it.

one of my favorite is...

and this reminds me of you.

The Two Wolves Within

A wise old Indian Grandfather said to his grandson, who ask him what to do about a schoolmate who had done him wrong; "Let me tell you a story, son. I too, at times, have felt a great anger and sometimes hate, for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking a poison inside your body and wishing your enemy to suffer. I have struggled with these feelings many times."

He continued, "It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offense to everything that happens. It is because he is at peace with himself."

"But the other wolf, ah! - he is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time. He cannot think because his anger, hate and jealousy are so great. But it changes nothing outside of himself. It only changes him.

"Sometimes it is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"

The wise old Indian smiled and said, "The one I feed, son; the one I feed."

[The story is also told as spirit man and carnal man. It is a story about how we perceive life.]

Sometimes we need a little rage to motivate us.

but, yes. bring the two selves as one in love and acceptance and then... we are whole.

it is like what we have to do with that child within that has the baggage or the ego. not get rid of (that will never happen and a tougher stronger to stay on), but allow for the ride with love and acceptance but not needed any more.

At Thu Dec 6, 2012, 08:53 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

I am so sick of
http://www.democraticunderground.com/125513691

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

Has nothing to do with feminism, but rather attacking DUers that may disagree with members of this group

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Thu Dec 6, 2012, 08:57 PM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Enough with this pettiness. This is a time wasting alert.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: This is one of the first times an alert has made me angry. THIS is a frivolous alert. Suggestion to alerter - grow up.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Hey alerter...get a life and mind your own damn business. You win the stupid fucking alert of the day award. Congrats. Stupid shit stirring.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Sounds to me like the alerter is stalking the group to alert on stuff. Leave them alone. Stay out of there. Pretty easy.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

I figure we MUST be doing something right.

I am not, let's say an admirer, of certain critics. I also have very strong self esteem, so my opinion DOES matter.

This comes across much better in real life.

I have no one on ignore, I like a little insight into people, even if I find them disturbing. One thing about the internet, is even if you are basically a coward, psychologically damaged somehow or have little real insight or simply unresolved issues, especially involving gender, and perhaps even more especially involving feminism, a negative pig pile is probably quite comforting. If you're more skilled at snark than having the ability to apply actual knowledge, I imagine it feels quite satisfying to roll around in it with like minded persons.

It shows.

That's ok. It is what it is, and I know what I know.

All that being said, it's frustrating when rumor and libel is seen as truth, but this is a community and it works like any other community. We waaay down the pecking order right now it seems.

'Seems' being the operative word.
