Nine Year-Old Girl Dominates Boys Football League

Last edited Fri Nov 9, 2012, 10:14 PM - Edit history (1)

The quarterback takes hits, she straight arms, she even stretches the ball over the goal line on one score. Amazing.

Her stats for season: 1,911 rushing yards, 8.2 yards-per carry, and 25 touchdowns (also, 65 tackles), while playing in the Gremlin age group (mostly nine year-olds) of the Ute Conference.

She's the freakin' Galloping Ghost of the Gremlin League.

Via USA Today:
According to her father Brent, who posted the video, there were 172 kids in her district who tried out for a Gremlin team. During tryouts, Sam tested the fastest in every single speed and agility drill.

awesome little girl

anyway, he sat watching the whole video with me and cheering her awesomeness. enjoyed her making the hits as much as the rest, her little self.

And she just drags him along-- precious.

She IS fast, it must be phenomenal to watch her at her games.

9. She seems to have some sort of heightened ability

To more easily juggle the variables of all the kids rushing her than most people. Combine that with her athleticism, and it looks like she's almost lackadaisically making some of those turns.

11. Being the non-athlete wuss that I am--

--I'm wondering if 10 year olds of any age are sufficiently developed to deal with this sport. Girls would have an advantage, though, because of earlier development.

12. not being a fan of football, but an athlete, the little bodies are really not being hurt

by the sport yet. older, ya. but at such a young age, they really do not know the game well enough, or the moves, to bother me with them playing.

my youngest played freshman year this year. i do not like it. i really did not want him to for different reasons and health is a big reason.

but at that age, it is a whole different story.

13. The boys appear bigger than she is, and they are very well padded

Although I agree with you.

From what I understand football recruiting begins very young, and while this young girl is very impressive, she'll need to divert her skills in another direction soon.
To me, football is very dangerous if not coached and monitored properly in the young, and just plain dangerous as young players come into their full growth. I don't know that much about it though, ( I do know the game; my father played semipro and for the army before I was born so I grew up hearing about it) I certainly could be wrong

14. that is what my son told me. he was watching her run and said, as she gets older, she needs to get

into track and cross country. he is a runner. he was watching her style and says it is very good. she already has it down.

15. Because of the small size, they can't hit that hard.

Being "sufficiently developed" actually makes it more dangerous.

16. the video was pulled

I hate it when people do that, it actually happens a lot.

If I were her parents I would get her out of football and into sports she can play through college and professionally.
