In the first ever study to examine the long-term effects of Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller, or the NK603 Roundup-resistant GM maize also developed by Monsanto, scientists found that rats exposed to even the smallest amounts, developed mammary tumours and severe liver and kidney damage as early as four months in males, and seven months for females, compared with 23 and 14 months respectively for a control group. “This research shows an extraordinary number of tumours developing earlier and more aggressively - particularly in female animals. I am shocked by the extreme negative health impacts,” said Dr Michael Antoniou, molecular biologist at King’s College London, and a member of CRIIGEN, the independent scientific council which supported the research. (More at the link. I have no idea if this is a reputable website or study, but this conversation must be started...and ended.)

Monsanto will have to respond to is class action lawsuits.

3. Presidents past and present have welcomed Monsanto into government positions.

"In 2009, in a classic revolving-door move, President Barack Obama appointed former Monsanto VP and head lobbyist Michael Taylor as Deputy Commissioner for the FDA — the board tasked with regulating Taylor’s own industry."
http://petovera.com/professional-web-design-blog/2012/01/monsanto-exec-heads-fda-and-the-obama-administrations-revolving-door-politics/ (If that site is RW or nutjob, just google up the information including "monsanto fda revolving door".) Note that Clarence Thomas used to be a Monsanto attorney and now he's on the supreme court, and refuses to recuse himself from Monsanto cases. Hillary Clinton also used to work for a firm which consulted for Monsanto. So yes, class-action lawsuits and blockades! Occupy Monsanto! |

4. Let's not forget Monsanto's role in supporting right-wing, anti-democratic forces abroad.

Such as in Paraguay.
