but, if "black folks" or others deemed threatening wear a simple "Sweat Shirt Hoodie" from Wall Mart, Target or Thrift Store...they are categorized as threatening.

So the "Soccer Moms" or whatever today can wear the "sheer hoodies" (from the expensive stores) and customized baseball ball cap with pony tail appropriately appearing through back gap....BUT....It's "those other folks" who are to be categorized as somehow...inferior and therefore threatening.

The "war on hoodies" is racist and classist. Geraldo is a stooge. I wear what I want.

It's billed as a speakout, but includes a march with the identical route used in last Sunday's march sponsored by Occupy the Hood L.A.--which went on despite the pouring rain.

Thanks to everyone out there standing up for justice. and also our right to wear casual sweatshirts. Very good pictures.

I was tempted to stop to buy a new Wal-Mart hoodie before the march, but decided to go with my old, ratty one. I've had that one for so many years, I can't even remember when I got it.

But no one would mistake me for a "gangsta." I'm a card-carrying member of the Vietnam Generation. And--more importantly--I've got the "right" color skin...so wearing my hoodie has never been "dangerous" for me.

In JHS into early HS, I wore the style of the day--blue tanker jacket and jeans, with Oxfords and white socks (!).

Skinny ties came in, so I wore them--even though I hated them!

I didn't like bell bottoms, but I LOVED my brushed-cotton flare jeans (wish I had some today!).

To my undying shame, I once had two polyester "leisure suits"--and even wore them when I did a college internship on Capitol Hill, working for a CA Rep.

With my history, hoodies are the least of my fashion worries, lol!

I may even pack a hoodie when we do our trip to Libya. Might just spark a style revolution among the revos.



P.S.--If you want to go even farther back, I was probably about 5 years old when I had a Davy Crockett fringed faux buckskin shirt (with Fess Parker's Davy Crockett image on the breast), together with a coonskin cap and b'ar rifle.

I'll wear my ratty hoodie again at the next march for Trayvon on Sunday--more pics to come.
