How to counter;

I see the rethugs are now going after moving the Pres's speach indoors. They are saying that the reason is that there will be empty seats.and other such nonsense.

"Yes, A week, and they can't bus in enough bodies in to fill the Stadium with bodies to make a political spectacle for Obama accepting the Nomination, Free Seats, Free Bus ride, a day off and away from school, or the retirement village, No mass loving sycophants fainting in the isles, When Obama's Benevolent Gaze falls upon them, the Wizard behind the curtain unmask, The vulnerability exposed."

1. You know what?

Nobody won an election on the basis of where they held their nomination speech.

2. Because people come first.

The comfort and safety of the audience must take precedence over original plans.

And besides, Democrats believe in science and in collecting data, and make adjustments in their plans and outlook upon examining the same. After the G.W. Bush administration, I'd say that makes for a refreshing (to say nothing of adult) change.

3. You can smell their desperation based on the idiotic nonsense that excites them.

Mock them.

4. To be fair, we'd be crowing about the same thing if this had happened to them. It'll pass.

9. Republicans come up with the wackiest ideas

it's hard to take them seriously all the time but, ultimately, we have to because there are actually some people who do. *ugh*

5. Seriously?

I think we need more threads about this. We aren't freaking out enough.

Honestly, it's been asked and answered: 19,000 were on a waiting list for this event. Don't bother countering this. Anyone who wrote what you posted is a lost cause to reality.

6. Here's a couple of links for you...

http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/09/dems-scoff-at-gop-taunts-that-obama-couldnt-fill-stadium.php

<snip>
More than 65,000 community members had activated community credentials to attend the event, and another 19,000 people were on a waiting list for the event. Democratic officials said they expected the lionís share of those with credentials to attend, because they had to go through a multi-step process that involved visiting a campaign office, and later activating a code using a computer or mobile device, to show that they were serious about attending.
<end>

..so it seems that the Dems had the potential to fill the stadium, AND they had an additional 19,000 people on the waiting list...

It's also my understanding that the cancellation was due to an increased chance of high winds, heavy rain and lightning storms. With all the staging, rigging and electrics that would be at risk of causing serious harm to folks, (remember Indiana State Fair?) I'm glad they opted to err on the side of caution.

I don't think filling the stadium was ever a concern for the Obama folks...
