2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo many anti-Hillary rants. Such a galactic waste of time and energy.
The endless anti-Hillary ranting may make a few people feel good, but it would disgust Bernie Sanders and it won't do one single bit of good. Hillary remains BRILLIANT, PROGRESSIVE, and the OVERWHELMING FAVORITE to win the nomination. These obsessive rants aren't changing a single mind. She is WAY ahead nationally, and a self-described socialist has ZERO chance to win this nomination let alone the general elections. These are the facts of life. Accept it.

(57,349 posts)I keep seeing posts complaining about "Bernie Underground" but I'd say there are just as many hit pieces on Bernie as Hillary.

Hillary will be the nominee and the TOS here says we support the nominee. So we have a few more months to put up with the anti Hillary rants but they have a shelf life.
Madam President sounds nice doesn't it?

(14,177 posts)I saw two today and that made me so happy I could burst. After all the whinging about those anti posts it was good to see they actually sometimes exist.

(20,226 posts)But compared to the constant condescension, blind arrogance, ignorance of history and sense of entitlement being directed against progressives is jaw dropping in its utter sliminess. Can they really not see it? Can it be that they don't see the difference between supporting or opposing a candidate based on their stand on the issues as opposed to blind hero worship versus personal attacks?
I get the impression that they don't actually care what a candidate's positions on issues are. They just want their side to win so they can get to hang out with the cool kids.
restorefreedom
(12,655 posts)but criticizing inconsistencies in policy as you point out, is not a personal attack. but i suppose if someone is very invested, it is possible to not be able to distinguish the difference. the thing that is most upsetting to me is the significant number of people who seem to agree with non progressive positions seemingly because they are the positions of a particular candidate. if hillary came out tomorrow against the death penalty, there would be numerous threads explaining why her new position is the correct one, just as there have been threads explaining how her current position is ok.
i don't get it. but i believe in ideas, not people. maybe that helps.

(20,226 posts)My ultimate political hero, the late Sen. George McGovern would once in awhile take a position in which I disagreed. Now, if I thought they were misrepresenting his actual position then I would defend. But, if his position was in fact something in which I disagreed - I simply said, "I disagree with that." It would be the same with Sen. Sanders or anyone else. I just don't get this idea that if I honestly think the President is making a mistake or Hillary is wrong on something - saying so is smearing them and I must be a hater. That's not how most Americans think and it does not attract voters.

(12,655 posts)this is not the real world, and most people aren't thinking of things the way we do here. its much more simple and straightforward. who has the better health plan, who will keep us out of war, who will break up the big banks, who will help my kids get a college education?
when it comes down to those basic issues, bernie and OM have the goods. hillary does not.
and people will vote to make their lives better.
